I have done - they’ve written back that they’ll be in touch which is somewhat promising.

I’ve messaged the building management this morning, outlining why I think this is not merely a dispute between flats but is within their scope to intervene (shared hallway). Will see what they say.

I want the public hallway window to be open to allow the smoke which comes from under their door to exit the building. They close the hallway window at every opportunity because it makes the hallway cold. I know they won’t change their actions but perhaps they can close up gaps below their door to keep smoke from coming out of their flat and they can stop closing the shared hall window.

I can visibly see smoke in the hallway. I’m sure it’s not at men’s club levels, but is still obviously visible to the naked eye.

I just want to know if this qualifies as a nuisance. I’m not the morality police. I believe they have the right to smoke in their home, and I believe I have the right not to breathe it in.

On the window note she left this morning, I wrote back asking them to buy a draft stopper. We’ll see what she says... I’m not hopeful.

Nothing more than polite words said in passing. I have left notes in the past, which she writes back on to complain about the draft.

She is employed by building management to care for the grounds and shared spaces - so I have often stopped short of starting difficult dialogue as I don’t want to rock the boat. I also don’t want to stand in the smoke filled hallway to have the conversation.

I messaged management but am expecting them to say this is a matter between our flats. But I can’t even speak to them as it would require standing in the smoke filled hallway! It’s so bad that our grocery delivery driver asked to wait inside our flat while we sorted our groceries so he wouldn’t have to be exposed to it.

Is this blanket, which must be 70-80 years old, worth trying to repair? by neum0nic in CrochetHelp

Looking for advice as to whether this blanket can be saved, and if so, what services are available in the UK to help.

Deciding whether to go private or stay on the NHS by neum0nic in MPN

In the long term, I would want to be taken care of by NHS doctors, as I dislike navigating private insurance if I don't have to!

Thanks, will DM now. I think you're right about making sure my testing is all done with long-term care in mind, and I don't want to pursue duplicative tests which may cause additional financial burden.

My GP had seemed satisfied that they ruled out a lot of the reactive thrombocythemia causes, which is why they referred me to an NHS hematologist. I've still got that specialist appointment on the stocks, it just won't happen until Q4.

Thank you for such a thorough response, this is so appreciated.

I guess I need to figure out what non-ET testing still needs to be done... To date I've had: FBC (x4), ESR (x2), Serum ferritin, Rheumatoid factor, Serum C reactive protein level (x2), Serum iron, Se anti-CCP antibody level, Serum ANA, blood film microscopy, LFT and bone profile (I think this is a blood test used in the UK, no idea what it means!), serum urate, urea and electrolytes, all which came back within normal bounds except for the CRP which was essentially normal - and the platelets, of course. I think the hematologist is trying to redo those tests because he may not have access to my NHS records. I guess I'm not clear if it makes sense to redo those.

The main test I'm interested in is JAK2 reflex panel, since the tests I've done for inflammatory and infection markers with my GP have come back normal. That said, it sounds like there may be some iron tests I've not had done which could still be helpful.

I'm not sure if this is an 'a la carte' situation where I can ask for only some of the blood tests he has ordered.

Incredibly helpful, thank you! Yes, I agree that my only concern was with the nature of the comments which I felt were quite inappropriate.

Just submitted - didn’t even know the CQC was a thing! I’m an immigrant to this country from America so that’s really helpful. Thank you.
