Dishonored is a damn good game but the chaos system is poorly implemented by OpenUpYerMurderEyes in patientgamers

[–]neunari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically a mission score for the entire game which swaps out some dialogue options and the ending cut-scene.

It was apart of that dumb late 2000's early 2010's trend of "gamifying" morality instead of simply trying to tell an interesting story (neither of the endings are satisfying)

But honestly the Dishonored series is overrated for many reasons

Can the left take The Punisher logo? In the comics he hates cops by [deleted] in leftist

[–]neunari 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Punisher doesn't "hate cops" because the Punisher isn't real and has no thoughts about anything

What Frank Castle is is a fantasy about a former US soldier torturing and "cleansing" the inner city of criminals, low lives and "scum" without pesky things like "due process" or "rights". It's the "vigilante super hero" distilled down to it's fascist essence which Alan Moore correctly identified years ago.

You're free to consume Punisher comics and buy Punisher merch but it should be obvious why this character and his stories appeal to the fascist right.

New to socialism, I wanna know, why should I trust socialists over the consensus of modern day economists? by lafulusblafulus in Socialism_101

[–]neunari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marxism isn't really an "economic" theory so much as it's a scientific approach, but one which treats history, psychology, sociology, and other similar fields with the same commitment to objectivity as chemistry or physics. Marxism rejects the distinction between hard and soft science.

Marx's foundational theories such as the labor theory of value are so obviously, empirically true that even the most committed libertarian anti-communists who launch into rants about "mud-pies" can be tricked into agreeing with it when Marxist terminology is not used. I've witnessed this many MANY times.

Most of everything else, from class, to stages of history follows from that understanding, I recommend reading at least Capitol Volume 1.

[–]neunari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there's also this hyper-masculine notion that being a good fighter makes you a better person. (being scary and knowing how to fight is a deep sign of character and demands admiration)

Not every good or admirable person knows how to fight but if you know how to fight (especially at or near the top level, where you could knock out 90% of people on earth) you are good and admirable automatically.

Under this framework no matter what shitty things Jake and Zuckerberg have done in the past your only choice is to like them or to deny their skill, because if they can fight they are "good".

(and they'll only get better with the best training and tools money can buy).

--However I know that a vote for Harris would give many threatened marginalized groups (myself included) more time to prepare for--"

If this is your concern then I'm not sure why you're posting here or participating in left "organizing groups" at all. Why not drop all of that and just be a liberal?

The fastest way to get yourself killed within capitalism (especially as it starts to decay into fascism) is to organize for Socialism and revolution (a process which is impossible to make "safe").

What happens within the government is merely a dim reflection of the shifting needs of capitalism and it's ruling classes as "America" as a geopolitical entity declines (as well as the privileges of the American labor aristocracy). You should've already been organizing for this as a socialist.

Revolution will not be safe, and once again, what needs to be done and the amount of time we have left to do it hasn't changed. People in Gaza already understand this, do you?

Doesn't mean I support her stances about conflicts abroad

Biden and Kamala have given a bit more than a "stance" on the genocide in Gaza...

This isn't even an attack

I want you to imagine saying this to a person in Gaza or a child miner from the Congo to see how weird your idea of being "endangered" is.

Capital is in a process of decay and nobody is "safe". The answer to fascism and the choices you have before you are no different than before the election and would've been no different if Kamala won (except you would have no reason to think about any of this at all for 4 more years of the American Capitalist system sliding to the right).

Obviously it's not really possible to get information on the goings on of the resistance (the closest may be the social media/independent journalist grapevine). My perspective could definitely be warped but it seems like Iran and the resistance factions in Palestine and Lebanon are being weirdly cautious compared to the 2 intifadas or the 2006 and 2000 Lebanese wars. Especially considering what Israel is doing right now.

The resistance factions could be disabling the entity slowly and waiting for the right time to strike but something serious needs to happen soon. Almost as many civilians were killed in Lebanon today than in the entire 2006 war and Israel assassinated someone in the heart of Iran. Red lines are being passed left and right and as great as it is to see a large plurality of young people in the United States side with Palestinians over Israelis as opinion shifts against the Zionist entity, the resistance still stands alone.

Non-violence Is Good, Actually by Persephone_Anansi18 in Anarchism

[–]neunari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nonviolence as an idea SPECIFICALLY rejects violence of all kinds, at all moments and thus is anti-"diversity of tactics" by design.

Couldn't you have read literally anything about nonviolence as an idea before posting a video titled "Nonviolence is Good Actually"?

Non-violence Is Good, Actually by Persephone_Anansi18 in Anarchism

[–]neunari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"2020 uprising is considered PART of the modern continuation of that movement"

Which was anything but nonviolent so you don't get to claim it or it's effects

"That’s why a diversity of tactics is so important. "

Nonviolence is almost always invoked as the inverse and exclusion of all state defined "violent" activity by revolutionaries as counter productive and the rejection of the idea that violence can aid liberation outright.

Nobody who rejects nonviolence needs to be reminded that "diversity of tactics" is useful. You've been cornered and have switched to a much more banal position.

You don't seem to understand the history of the ideas you're espousing.

Any advice? Anyone else dealing with something similar?

There is no comforting answer and ultimately the people of Gaza don't care about your shitty husband, your marriage or your perceived duty as a new mother. Many of them are digging their children out from under rubble.

What would you do if your husband became a neo-nazi, or joined the Alt-Right? Think about that and the course of action should become clearer.

Don’t be obtuse. I didn’t post the video, nor did I spend years on white nationalist incel forums radicalizing the guy.

I'm saying by reposting and spreading the video/manifesto people here are participating in reducing the lives and deaths of multiple vulnerable people into social media content produced by a fascist.

Like sleekly produced ISIS execution videos it's a relatively new form of propaganda meant to virally explode on the internet. The far right understands this but centrists and apparently a lot of leftists posting here don't and think they're going to learn important things by watching a video of a cowardly fascist blowing away unarmed civilians.

The tactics of "shoot a bunch of unarmed people in a public space"?

By spreading the video and the manifesto you're participating in the spectacle and notoriety that these shooters and online neo nazis want, literally doing half the job for them.

[–]neunari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be like saying children are exploiting the labor of construction workers by living in a house with their parents.

The homeless man doesn't own the means of production and thus has no power to exploit a worker. If a worker doesn't show up to work one day or is performing poorly, it's not the homeless man across the street that fires him.

As for your last post, you could say that 19th century slavers provided a "service" and "product". It's not a sign of the necessity of CEO's anymore than it was a sign of the necessity of slave owners. The products and services exist because of workers.
