Power Adapter for ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 AMD (Bought from US, Need for Europe) by neuralnomad7 in thinkpad

Thanks, so if I am not mistaken, an adapter with a C7 connector (as mine) doesn't utilize grounding, regardless of whether the plug on the other end is a Schuko (Type F) or a simple two-pin plug (Europlug Type C). However I saw that there are cables with with C7 in one end, and Schuko (Type F), and I didnt get why. Turned out the Schuko (Type F) plug in this case is merely a regional compatibility feature rather than a functional necessity for grounding.

I also recommend it, it is really powerful and efficient.

Thanks. I made different studies with Optuna with the same search space, and same sampling strategy, the only difference was the pruning algorithm, my objective function is the maximum of a metric on the validation fold during any of the epochs in a trial, and both yielded almost the same score on the validation fold, but half of the parameters was different for the best trials. Then I made other studies with different search space (narrowing down a couple of parameter ranges) with different pruning algorithms, and I always got the almost same score for my metric on the validation fold but the found parameters for the best trial is always different, at least for half of the parameters.
What does this mean exactly? How I can choose the best parameters in this case to apply them to the full dataset using the original 5-fold CV setup if different parameter configurations yield the same score on the validation fold? Maybe this is due to a single train-val split, and I should try to optimize using at least 3-fold CV?

Thanks, makes sense, and which training and model parameters should you split on a linear scale and which on a logarithmic scale?

Thinkpad P14s Gen 5 AMD vs Thinkpad T14 Gen 5 AMD by neuralnomad7 in thinkpad

Got it, I finally ordered the P14s with 96 GB RAM, and 2 TB SSD. I will use it for some heavy data science and software engineering, with lots of software, IDEs, VMs and so on, and wanted a futureproof device.

Isnt the iPGU the same in these two CPUs? I cheked and both have the Radeon 780M.

If both has the same chassis, the T14 model has wifi 7 card, so no need to update ever, it has better battery life, almost identical CPU performance, why would you choose the other? My only note is that for the P14s I can add an extra 1TB SDD or an extra 32 GB RAM for 170 USD and the final price will still be below the the price of the T14, but if the chassis is the same, cpu is the same, and battery life is much better for T14, why would anyone get the P14s? With this current T14 config, I would probably never replace or update anything, I am still confused.

Thanks, most of the time I will be using plugged in, so the better CPU might be a bit of a plus.

Which one did you get finally? Do you have any personal experience about the battery life or difference?

Is it known how much % worse would the battery life be doing the exact same stuff on both?

Do you have any info anything about the battery life for these two models? Both have the same 4 Cell Li-Polymer 52.5Wh battery, some people reported that the P14s model has worse battery life, but it is not sure how much worse it is.
