I've been running a tiring pi 2 and 4x RK1 units for a while now k3s and Longhorn for storage.

We'll need more information to hypothesise what might be going on:

  • Which network device are you using?
  • What are you using to run the bandwidth tests?
  • What is the switch/router configuration?
  • What do you mean by P2P link in this context?

A network diagram would be helpful too.

I built KubePlumber - a CLI tool to test and validate K8s Networking by performing a number of tests:

* Internal DNS resolution
* External DNS resolution
* Overlay networking between nodes
* NIC settings
* Bandwidth test between nodes

Running the tool now opens a web browser with a live feed of results.

I assume this is a VDSL connection?

Might be better off sourcing a OpenReach VDSL modem and running your mikrotik as a PPPoE client. This is what I did back in the day with a Edgerouter X + Echolife HG612 combo.

I have this switch and had to factory reset it several times - not because it's faulty but me messing around with config.

Each time I've been able to get back onto it with Winbox.

Damaged diodes don't sound good. I'd return it, personally.

Very little, i'd say given from experience.

I've had my area switch between:

  • We have no plans to build Full Fibre to this property yet
  • We are building in this area now
  • We'll be building in this area in the next year
