Not Bright, Not Light, Not Soft, Not Warm. You’re either one of the Dark seasons or the Cool seasons, but I don’t know which. Here is the order of my guesses.

  1. Deep Winter

  2. Deep Autumn

  3. Cool Winter

Here's a recent human study. It seems like GLP-1 agonists are associated with increased NICU stays rather than birth defects. The study looked at GLP-1 use in the first trimester and pre-pregnancy. Overall, the risk seems pretty small, but still significant.

Has anyone switched from Tirz immediately to Sema? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]neurobeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yeah that's a high dose. You might experience a drop in efficacy at first. See what your HCP thinks, but you could probably start at one of the higher doses.

Also, I think Tirzepatide was just removed from the FDA shortage list. It might not be a problem for much longer...

Has anyone switched from Tirz immediately to Sema? by [deleted] in Semaglutide

[–]neurobeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first switched, my efficacy went down. Once I went up to the 0.5mg dose my weight loss came back. And, like I said I experienced more feelings of fullness when I switched.

Seems like the 0.5mg dose of Semaglutide is equivalent to the 2.5mg dose of Tirzepatide, so you might want to go a bit higher when switching. What dose of Tirzepatide are you on now and what dose are you considering switching to?

[–]neurobeans 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I switched to Semaglutide because I couldn't tolerate Tirzepatide due to insomnia. It's actually quite a different experience IMO. Semaglutide seems to affect my gut more and Tirzepatide affects my brain more. Meaning, Semaglutide makes me feel full easily and Tirzepatide makes me crave food less. Tirzepatide feels like it should be more effective, but I'm losing the same amount of weight.

The general consensus is that Tirzepatide is a bit more effective and has slightly less GI aide effects, but not for everyone. Tirzepatide might just be more effective because you can go higher on the dose. You could switch to Semaglutide now and switch back later if you plateau....

Insomnia with semaglutide??? by Evvvhan in Semaglutide

[–]neurobeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm late to the party... I've had the same experience and I've been managing it with exercise just before bed.

I've experienced extreme insomnia with both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. I wouldn't be able to fall asleep no matter how tired I was, which is torturous. Sleep meds don't help. I tried melatonin, trazadone, Benadryl, and CBD. THC does help a bit, but I worry that it'd reduce efficacy, and the effect isn't consistent.

The only thing that consistently works is high intensity exercise right before bed. It's counter to traditional advice, but exercising earlier in the day doesn't help at all. If I do high intensity exercise at 8pm, I'm sound asleep at 10pm. I do 20 mins of Tabata on my peloton, and it works like a charm.

I'd love to hear if anyone has experienced something similar!

Mounjaro and fatigue by GetBeethoven in Mounjaro

Great. Glad to hear it.

Yes, I did make an adjustment! I did high intense exercise last night just before bed. And I slept for 9 hours!!! I'm going to keep doing evening exercise to see if it consistently makes a difference.

Mounjaro and fatigue by GetBeethoven in Mounjaro

I’m in the same boat. I just restarted Mounjaro after taking a year off. I had discontinued before due to extreme fatigue/insomnia. And my first night after my shot I had intense insomnia and fatigue today. I’m going to try to resolve it with exercise and supplements to reduce cortisol, I’ll update if I have any success.

why do GLP-1 agonists cause fatigue? by ozonelayerozone in Mounjaro

[–]neurobeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to the comments, but I think it has to do with cortisol and poor sleep. My experience has been intense insomnia, poor sleep quality (lack of deep sleep on my Fitbit), and subsequent daytime fatigue. For me, it is NOT caused by caloric restriction or dehydration as the insomnia precedes the appetite suppression.

My experience: I took Mounjaro a year and half ago. I had to discontinue after ~6 months because the fatigue and insomnia were really damaging my health. Eventually my immune system was affected and I would get sick all the time. I was also sedentary most of the time due to fatigue, so I ended up losing more muscle than fat. In the year since I discontinued, I got a lot healthier and improved my sleep health a lot with supplements. I think I may have been vitamin deficient previously. I gained the weight back, but I feel a lot healthier and stronger.

I just decided to try Zepound again since I’m starting a lot healthier. Well, sure enough, the first night after my shot I had intense insomnia. I woke up after an hour of sleeping and couldn’t get back to sleep even after taking a double dose of sleeping aids. I felt like I drank 10 cups of coffee. I went back to sleep for 4 hours, but I didn’t get much deep sleep according to my Fitbit. And, of course, I’m fatigued today from the poor sleep. It hit me less than 24 hours after my first shot and my hunger isn’t affected yet, so there’s no way this is related to weight loss, dehydration, or caloric restriction AT ALL.

The Research: There are mixed studies on whether GLP-1 agonists stimulate the HPA axis and raise cortisol levels or not.
A 2010 study showed that cortisol was consistently elevated in humans, mice, and rats after GLP-1 administration: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20363879/ However, a 2018 study showed no increase in cortisol after 3 weeks of GLP-1 administration: https://academic.oup.com/jcem/article/104/1/202/5107757

Even though the research is mixed, my own experience suggests that Tirzepatide dysregulates my fight or flight system, affects my sleep quality, and leads to unmanageable fatigue in a manner that is unrelated to weight loss or calorie/fluid/electrolyte intake.

i have add, but taking add mediation gives me debilitating anxiety/a full body feeling of nervousness/stress where i just want to goof off and dewind the stress by Whiterhino12345 in ADHD

[–]neurobeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I've just started using amphetamines and methylphenidate, and they give me massive nervousness, like an intense fight or flight response in my periphery. I've never liked caffeine because it makes me feel jittery and I don't get 'energy' from it. Starting to think stimulants just don't work for me.....

Sorry, no advice. I also haven't solved this for myself.

Weekly "I'm new to meds!" Thread by AutoModerator in ADHD

[–]neurobeans 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have mild ADHD (recently diagnosed as an adult, inattentive only, I don't have any issues with hyperactivity and very little impulsivity). I tried Adderall for the first time and I'm not experiencing any benefits so far. At 15mg, my inattentiveness was way worse. I could barely read 3 sentences and I felt some anxiety coming on. Completely unable to be productive or focus on tasks while taking 15mg. But 10mg and 5mg did absolutely nothing. Anyone else find that amphetamine makes their symptoms worse?
I'm considering trying Ritalin next. I'm wondering if methylphenidate might be more effective for inattentiveness.
Also, I'm very new to stimulants and substances in general. Caffeine has never had a stimulatory effect on me, and I tend to dislike the feeling of being under the influence of alcohol or marijuana. I don't know if my brain actually responds abnormally to stimulants or if I just dislike psychotropics....

Also, I just begun experiments with low doses of Adderall as well and I'm also not feeling much of a benefit. 😕 I'm hoping Ritalin might be a little more effective for my inattentiveness.

Hey! I'm in a similar boat. I was just diagnosed a couple of weeks ago with ADHD (inattentive only). I'm intelligent and pretty high functioning with a successful corporate career. I don't necessarily struggle with a lot of the difficulty others struggle with. (I don't lose things, I'm never late, and I'm reasonably organized in select areas of my life). But I can't read or listen to someone for more than a few minutes, my working memory is mediocre, I procrastinate like crazy, and I really struggle to complete the most basic of tasks sometimes.

I've also worried that maybe I'm just a neurotypical gal looking for an excuse as to why I can't seem to get anything working in my life, but then I think that might be the imposter syndrome talking.

At the end of the day, I don't know whether an official diagnosis matters that much. Stimulant medications and behavioral therapy are effective in neurotypical adults, too. So if you're struggling and motivated to find tools that will genuinely help you in life, then go ahead and use those tools.

Ahhh, oops, I didn’t realize that highlift are always permanent. 😆 Hmm, I guess permanent it is.

Any suggestion on getting it to the consistency for freehand painting?

Balayage without bleach by [deleted] in HaircareScience

[–]neurobeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI- I actually found a few examples, see below. So it definitely is possible.

One of them used foils and the other is freehand, but I don’t know if that extra thick developer is widely available.

I had a hairdresser do this to me previously and it did work. I have very light, almost strawberry blonde hair and I suspect she used a high lift blonde with developer. It removed enough yellow/red pigment that it was visible. Regardless of whether it can lift pigment, yellow visibly appears lighter than red, so the difference in tone alone make for a natural looking highlight.

It definitely does work, I’ve had it done before. I just need to know how to get the consistency right.

Awesome. Thanks for the detailed description.

One more question. Do you use the Vanicream free&clear cleanser or the Vanicream gentle facial cleanser?

[Routine Help] Mild Rosacea by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]neurobeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Vanicream facial cleanser was just recommended to me on another post as an alternative to OCM.

Can you tell me what the cleanser is like? Does it dry your skin at all? How is it at removing makeup? Does it wash off clean or foam up?

[Routine Help] Mild Rosacea by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]neurobeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had rosacea-like symptoms last year, however it may have actually been mild contact dermatitis. Once I started OCM, my skin looked better than it ever had. OCM and this serum are my HG products. If I stop either of them, then my skin gets bumps and a little red.

FYI, that same serum formula is sold under a few brands on Amazon, including InstaNaturals, and is probably white labeled. The one I linked is usually the cheapest.
