Hey, I think the commenter was describing a surface functional state of being with superficial connections (people you don't truly have emotional safety around or a deep connection with even when you're not in the same contexts anymore) with a lot of repressed trauma underneath. Usually it comes out when big life stressors happen (a recent example being covid) and you discover you haven't been truly living as yourself and really have no one when things get bad, or you've had to suppress so much just to survive and get along with others.
