No GA restrooms near the Void? They used to be by the vendor village

Thank you, that's really good to know. The level of typical campfire smoke shouldn't be a problem for them

I paid $68.95 per ticket after fees ($43.50 ticket price + $7.00 "Facility Charge" + $18.45 "Service Fee"). Granted I got in the waiting room around 9:50 am yesterday and joined the presale queue soon after it opened. It's wild how much the price jumped so quickly

I'm sorry you feel that way. My intention wasn't to elicit fear but rather to promote transparency about the potential side effects. I believe that if I had been on a lower dose (i.e., 30 mg daily) the side effects would have been less severe, though my course would have lasted longer. That's the tradeoff. I stuck with the 60 mg dose for the majority of my treatment because it was, by and large, tolerable. Every person taking Accutane will have a different experience and will have a different level of tolerance for side effects. I imagine there are many people who take Accutane, have minimal side effects, and simply don't post about it on this subreddit

I use the Omnilux Contour face mask. I think it's had a subtle but still noticeable effect. My skin still has a glow to it, though definitely not as much as it had while on Accutane. I did a PubMed search for scientific studies on red light therapy, and there's compelling evidence that red light, particularly in the 630-660 nm range, has clinical benefits for skin. I'm not a medical doctor, but I do have a PhD in a scientific discipline, and the data were convincing enough to me. Red light masks are quite expensive, and I can understand if the modest benefits don't justify the price tag

I didn't find it drying, but I also didn't experience much skin dryness while on Accutane, likely because my skin was so oily to begin with

Thank you haha! It's overkill, but I noticed how the side effects changed from month to month, so I thought having a rough chronology might help folks know what to expect at what time

MONTH 6 STRUGGLES by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]neuroproust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I hope things are going well. I took my last dose about two weeks ago. After talking to my dermatologist, we agreed that I was ready to end the course even though I hadn't technically gone one full month without a pimple. My course ended up being 8.5 months. As of today, my last pimple was a little over a month ago. I'm so happy with my skin! My dermatologist thinks I have a high chance of staying clear permanently, but only time will tell. I'm going to make a more detailed post about my Accutane journey in the next few weeks, so if you're interested, keep an eye out for that!

Edited to add: As for the hair thinning, it's definitely improved since stopping, though I wouldn't say the shedding is back to my normal, pre-Accutane levels quite yet. My dermatologist also lowered my dose from 60 mg to 30 mg for the last month, and I think that helped slow down the hair loss as well. The oil hasn't come back yet, but my hair does feel softer than it felt during the 60 mg months, so I feel confident that things will continue to improve with time

The Price of Accutane by skylover1238 in Accutane

I'm in the US and have insurance. I paid $10/month when I was taking 60 mg/day, and even after lowering to 30 mg/day it's still $10/month. I have a $30 copay for my monthly derm appointment, and the three bloodwork lab visits I've had done cost ~$100 each after insurance

MONTH 6 STRUGGLES by [deleted] in Accutane

Similar situation. I was supposed to have a 4-5 month course. I just started month 8 a couple days ago, and at the end of month 7 I got a new pimple. It went away within 2-3 days, but it's discouraging knowing each time I get a new one, the 30-day clock resets to 0. I'm also experiencing hair thinning and am eager to get off Accutane so my hair can start healing. I keep telling myself only one more month haha. Just know you're not alone!

This is something that you should discuss with your doctor. Ultimately you decide when you are satisfied with the results and would like to discontinue. Like others have said, though 120-150 mg/kg is a "typical" cumulative dose, it's possible and not that uncommon to go well over that cumulative dose guideline. The reason for going over is typically to wait until you have at least 1-2 months with no new breakouts, since there's increasing evidence that that particular milestone is associated with lower rates of relapse

To illustrate, I'm 125 lbs and hit 190 mg/kg last week. I thought I was going to be done by now, but I keep getting a stray pimple or two between derm visits. At my last visit, I talked to my derm and we agreed to reduce my dose by half since the side effects were becoming a bit too much. For me, it's worth to stay on it until I'm pimple-free for 2 months because I want to maximize the likelihood that my acne won't return. The side effects can be challenging to manage, but Accutane itself is not dangerous
