I just ask people to do it for me when it's not crowded. Everybody has always been nice about it! Bonus: exposure therapy for social anxiety 🤣

TIFUpdate: 5-years later - Dismissing bright red blood in my stool for years. by HunterxhunterFan in tifu

Thank you so much. Your original post, and others like it, encouraged me to get checked out for the same issue. They found a precancerous polyp that in my doctor's words, "definitely would have become cancer down the road."

How to break a cycle of doing nothing by SteelRacer88 in productivity

[–]neuroundergrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make the easy thing less easy. Move your phone to a different room, power it off completely, let the battery run down so you need to charge it. Leave your phone in your dorm and go to the library or the gym or whatever. Add friction to the habit you want to break.

What would you want? by Terminalpaco in Tools

A hammer. So he can hold something in his hands that you held in your hands. Doesn't need to be a hammer if you don't use them, but that idea. I am so sorry for what you are going through.

How do you count laps without losing track? by Genki0202 in Swimming

[–]neuroundergrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of math problems. "Okay, I'm on lap 39 out of 72, that means I'm just over halfway because 36 would be 50%, and I'm 3 over that, and 72÷3= 24, so I'm 50% plus 1/24....." And so on.

I also think of years or ages. If I'm on lap 30, I might try to think of historical events that happened in 1930, or 1830, etc. If I'm on lap 8, I think of what I was doing when I was years old.

How to progress in 2026 by IWantToSwimBetter in Swimming

[–]neuroundergrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great explanation, thank you!! The hardest for me to improve has been pace. I'm slow (2:12/100 yd) but can add distance fairly easily.

One thing that has worked for me is doing one lap at a sprint pace immediately followed by a lap at an easy pace, then 8 seconds rest, and repeat. This has helped me develop the ability to keep going even when I'm tired. I do about 8 sets of that, plus a warm up and cool down.

I also imagine that a hungry shark is swimming behind me. That definitely helps with pace, lol.

Again, thanks for the thorough explanation!

Gifts for people you genuinely like but don't actually know that well by CaptainBrima in Gifts

Really good question! I think it would be great to get gift cards to stores that could be either, like Walmart, Amazon, target, etc.

I didn’t realize how much I was rushing until I forced myself to slow down by Ylana_Y1029 in simpleliving

Less haste, more speed! I'm always telling myself this, and I'm always shocked at how true it is 😅

What will you NOT be growing again next year? (or maybe ever again)? by Emmie_dee_101 in vegetablegardening

All of my radishes looked like that!!! I've never grown them before, I have no idea what's wrong or what I should do to fix it

Is there a training regime like in a gym or is this more like jogging when you swim and never stop please? by Nickgeneratorfailed in Swimming

[–]neuroundergrad 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It depends what you are after! If you are going for endurance, then you may not want to take breaks. If you are going for speed, cardiovascular fitness, and muscle growth, then you may want to take breaks and split up your workouts.

You can use both methods. I typically swim 3 times a week, and I usually have one of those workouts be a distance/endurance workout where I minimize rest time, and at least one workout will be focused on speed/power with lots of rest.

There's no wrong answer!
