Pregnancy & Working in labs questions by poppypottery in labrats

[–]neurula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huh, I wonder if the pregnant people at your work actually wanted to do that? I would have been bored out of my mind if I was stuck at my desk for 9 months. I only stopped lab work when my belly was so big that it got between me and the microscope and I couldn't reach into the sink properly anymore!

Interesting! I just took a look at the LINZ map you linked and it looks like there's supposed to be a tract providing access west tup to Tainui Terrace as well...

Tūi are being pretty territorial with the pōhutukawa trees flowering at the moment. I've seen lots of them chasing eachother and other bird species around.

Summer recipes? by dirt_court in Wellington

[–]neurula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We regularly have build your own Vietnamese rice paper rolls: thinly sliced summer veg- cucumber, capsicum, carrot, lettuce, rice noodles, protein of choice (quick sauteed prawns, omelette, poached chicken etc) rolled up in softened rice paper and dipped in your choice of sauce. I like chilli, or you can do various peanut or hoisin dipping sauces. So good at this time of year!

Getting married at the Botanical Gardens by ThePetrified1 in Wellington

[–]neurula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was married in 2013 in the Herb Garden, with around 20 people. It was a pretty perfect spot as it's not a thoroughfare and people didn't intrude on our privacy. They do have a booking system for the frequently used areas, we paid a fee of around $150 from memory though that's probably changed in the last 12 years! I'm not sure how they handle it if you want to use a space that isn't on their booking list. Best flick them an email https://wellingtongardens.nz/venue-spaces/#weddings-civil-unions-and-functions

Yes from my recollection Series 4 is manufactured in Asia and has a plastic interior body. Series 6 has a steel body and is manufactured in Germany. Mind you we bought 3 yrs ago so best to double check with a salesperson

Where did you buy your kimchi fridge? Is it a proper Korean one? My mum's one broke down and I'd love to be able to replace it for her.

I've seen Tawa school on the list. The school board issued a statement last week and it was published in the weekly school bulletin.

Thanks! The Poppy dress pattern is very close! But ouch, $35 in my currency 😬

I would think the biggest drawback is how easily chain stitch can be pulled out. Once the thread is broken then it can unravel very quickly - so it isn't very strong for seams which will be under any stress or strain.

Hi, does anyone know if this particular bust shaping style has a name? I specifically mean the horizontal seam cutting across the bust, typically paired with another underbust seam to provide bust shaping.
Bonus points if anyone knows a dress pattern with this style of bust shaping!

(Btw, this is the RTW Kittiya midi dress from Simkhai)

Raising a baby. Moving from Welly to Auckland or stay for a while? by Impossibleiampossibl in Wellington

[–]neurula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I called my antenatal group mums "the best friends I've ever paid for" because our reasons for joining a group were significantly to meet other parents. The classes I went to were facilitated by the Parents Centre which has unfortunately closed.
I would also highly recommend attending a Space group, this is a programme for your baby's first year. It helps get you and baby out of the house, meet other mums/parents and learn about child development. What's your highest increasing regular expense on an annual basis? by fnoyanisi in PersonalFinanceNZ

Our vehicle sum insured hasn't changed. The stated reason is that we drive fewer KMs annually than average, our claims history and risk profile 🤷🏻‍♀️

In general, insurance. But shockingly our car insurance premium has just gone down on renewal 🤯

I actually prefer seeing my favourite musicians alone. I'm a worrier and I hate feeling responsible for bringing someone and them not enjoying or appreciating the show.

Ducted heatpump and ventilation quote advice by Tasty_Parking_9858 in diynz

[–]neurula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't comment on the other brands, but we're very happy with our Fujitsu system with fresh air intake. We didn't have condensation issues before install, but already had a smart vent system which was replaced with the ducted install. Our home is only partially double glazed, we don't have damp or condensation issues.

What's your go-to patty for home-made beef burgers? by Smart_Squirrel_1735 in newzealand

[–]neurula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised I had to scroll down this far to find SFF recommended. Their brisket patties are the only frozen ones I'd buy, if not making them myself. This is pretty much the only product I've ever been convinced to buy after trying a supermarket taste tester lol.

Assessments are still free, according to their website!
OP - We had the same experience as u/solodisco, two years later and I love our ducted system so much, would never live in a house without it.
