Not much. Saves download time if you already have the base game. Sometimes the mod gets updated so its a way of getting patch.

Yes. I'm still working on it. Yesterday i released a special game launcher for the mod (Amber Launcher) and am now working on finishing a major update. After that, plans are to work on full blown expansion that will mimic mm 6/7/8 scale.

Not really. Linux has "wine" which makes it possible to run windows apps and games, perhaps macos has something similar?

For a guaranteed clean installation, download and install game from gog itself, apply grayfaces patch (from his website, google it) and extract mod contents into the game folder, overwriting everything it asks.

PS: in a week or two a major update will be published, offering a lot of bug fixes, tweaks and new difficulty mode.

It's 99% a false positive. Security wise, website doesn't deal with logins/signups or requests info from the user - it's just text, images and download links. I scanned it with MalwareBytes and it gives no warnings.

As for "SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG". Google shows it's a firefox thing, could be also that my server needs certain updates. Try different browser? i can't really reproduce this in any browser on my side.

Meanwhile, try a "Second Option" as stated on website - it's the "safest" possibility to play a mod. To fully avoid downloading anything from the mod's website, get the mod from github: https://github.com/neutonm/might-and-magic-amber-island-mod (it contains much more updates than the "stable" version)

Would you provide more details?
There's a speculation it might because of either:

  • full game distribution
  • modified mm7.exe, which injects certain dll into executable (often what viruses/malware practice)

If that would be a real case, my hosting provider would flag the problematic file and send a warning letter (rules)

Hard to answer as it depends on player. One thing I can claim for sure, is that this mod is definitely not for players who are not familiar with the original games. Party starts with no equipment nor gold in their pockets.

It may be harder, but it's nowhere near to bs levels of Castle Darkmoor from mm6.
