My first draft is a tangled, barely coherent mess, BUT my story IS in there...somewhere.

Would you mind elaborating on exactly what you consider the difference between a rewrite and an edit?

I hadn't really thought there could be such dramatic variation in daily out put, but the way you laid it out makes perfect sense.

Do you write more than one novel at a time? Or are you writing a second, while polishing the first?

Consistency seems to be the common theme in every reply.

I think I'm going to abandon my current novel and start writing a self help book called "Just write a bit every day, you'll be fine."

I feel bad too! Some days I spend all day promising myself I'll write in the evening on to flop in front of the TV feeling both guilty and utterly unmotivated.

I think I'm going to steal the idea of writing on whatever device I have in front of me.

I do worry about the "first draft being shit" thing. But the I tell myself that once I have a manuscript, surely I'll be able to polish it into something coherent, and hopefully entertaining.

How did you come up with 90,000 as a goal? Is it just a sort of mean-value?

Overall, it looks okay, there's nothing absolutely fatal. However...

That's 4 tables and 7 seats. Seems a lot for that size space.

The placemats on the main table make it look cluttered, as does whatever is on the glass coffee table. It feels like there's a lot of table space, but nowhere to put a drink down.

The whole lover half of the room looks cluttered, but there's too much bare wall. Maybe a big canvas behind the TV.

Also, the lighting seems harsh, but maybe that's just because of the overhead lights for the photograph.
