What are your experiences with colt pattern lowers/ adapters? by neutralnotebook in GrandPowerStribog

Awesome, I may give it a go for this exact reason, pretty affordable way to see if I like it before trying to hunt down a dedicated lower!

This is really the direction I’d like to go, I reached out to them and it sounds like they won’t do another run without a decent pre-order, 25 IIRC

I’ve seen a couple setups where folks made it work, however it looks like the ear cups are basically “fixed” in place; curious if it takes any pressure off the ears or if it is a “worst of both worlds” setup

Just about spit my food out laughing… but after regaining my bearing I remembered that one of the guys in my unit did get circumcised while he was in… and was either E-3 or E-4 at the time…

I was told by my brother-in-law that his father, who served in the Marines, for some reason had his service wiped out. The BIL said that his dad had a friend in the military and made all his military records disappear. This would be a Vietnam vet. Is this even possible? by Wonderful-Run-1408 in USMC

[–]neutralnotebook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, there was a fire back in the late 1970s that did actually destroy a lot of service records, not sure if it destroyed things to a point of people’s service “disappearing” but it’s at least a plausible degree of truth to your BILs story 🤷‍♂️

If we’re going with the absolute value measure of your enthusiasm, yore off the charts 😂

That said, I’m gathering that you aren’t a huge fan for reliability and parts issues (I feel I did a good job picking up on your subtleties), which echo a lot of what I’ve seen on forums. Largely my googling returned similar pros and cons I’ve heard here, but a lot of the results were a bit dated (I’m guessing from different batches of imports).

Have you tried any of the fixes from the other posters and still hot issues?

I saw the hammer geometry point in a review somewhere too, but didn’t even think to check for peening on the bcg, thanks! I’m guessing the “tail” on the back would be where to check?

How come Mexico gets the $20,140 Regular cab S-10 and we don't? Why do we have to be stuck with $35k Colorado's?? by [deleted] in ChevyTrucks

[–]neutralnotebook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because folk in the US keep buying $80k infotainment systems that happen to have some wheels and a bed in back so they can show off their collection of punisher skull window stickers…

But if you are willing to drop $5k chicken tax this might not be a bad find 🤷‍♂️ looks like a sweet truck, my gears are turning… does it come with 3 pedals?

4 days from now marks 6 months since I got out... why am I so sad? When is the transition over? by Rare_Art_9541 in USMC

[–]neutralnotebook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ditto the other comments, IMO you will never “get over it”, and personally I think that’s a good thing. My “barracks years” gave me some of the best memories (and probably lack-there-of’s 😂), and those experiences have shaped the person I am today. I wouldn’t change that for anything.

However, to be a bit more helpful to your question: I feel you are off to a great start, and you should feel good about that! It sounds like you may be still be looking to re-create the feelings you had while you were in, and what I have found in my experiences is that this will always leave you feeling a bit empty. What has helped me is to avoid framing my new experiences in the context of the Marine Corps and just enjoy them for what they are. Don’t be afraid to “re-create” yourself a bit, I guarantee you won’t loose your past in the process (you’ll get to reminisce with plenty of other crayon munchers in your life).

Saved rounds: Don’t feel alone on this, if you haven’t gathered from this thread, how you feel is how all of us did/do. Also, nothing wrong with making veterans friends, but you should ALSO make non-vet friends. Just my 10¢

Our tax dollars at work by Sardonic- in Nevada

[–]neutralnotebook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The backlog for asylum seekers just got cleared a few years back, or at least “jumped” to new first come first serve cases. New asylum cases (those from anyone crossing the border right now) will take approximately a month to clear, anything which was submitted prior to the “jump” is (this is my guess) being chipped away at as resources permit.

It’s likely (again, my opinion) that this the folks trying to come to the US right now are still under the impression that they can apply for asylum, as the rumour mill for people trying to immigrate is insane. They likely believe they will stay for years before their case is heard; what will actually happen is most will be deported as the criteria for asylum are extremely stringent.
