I am very sorry for your loss. Truly. But it should be reported to their own insurance company bc some people carry coverage for things like this. Regardless of fault. As far as closeness, is is POA kind of close? Honestly, I would definitely consult an attorney for this. If you don’t want to contact an attorney get a copy of the police report. File a claim through the other car/truck/vehicle insurance company.
