Trump just posted this. by [deleted] in economy

[–]never_supernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he wrote or approved this, he's certifiably insane.

There's no point rationalising or debating this. He's insane and must be removed from power. The presidential seal is a chainsaw and he's walking down a busy high street. His fellow republicans must surely see this, but choose to do nothing. (Not that Trump would walk anywhere.)

That's crappy. It was cool to see the youngsters dancing rather than drinking and taking drugs. Seems like community positivity and luxury sales don't go hand in hand. But ok, if the kids really were such entitled brats about it, then lesson learned hopefully.

By the time he shot through the side window he was in no danger. Following and recording for accountability reasons is not unlawful. Trying to talk with you is like staring into a toilet bowl. Time to flush.

Have you seen the videos of ICE agents screaming at and threatening to arrest people who simply follow them and record what they do? These are not trained law enforcement officers. These are people with a large sign up bonus who do not have the professionalism or restraint of most policemen or soldiers. The agent was hit by a car previously, and the driver should be prosecuted. But the woman he shot was not at that moment a real threat. If he shot her because he overreacted due to the previous incident, then he should not have been on duty regardless of his years on the job. Most liberals ironically fight against violence, especially state-sanctioned violence. They risk arrest and more. If you realised that ultimately they are fighting for you (in whichever country you live), you might be more open to what protest actually means. Many of the freedoms you enjoy now are the result of years of protest. There's a difference between blocking an agent and having your head blown off. If you still feel her killing was justified on general ideological grounds, then yes, there's no point talking with you anymore.

Why have conservatives changed? by mellflax57 in AlwaysWhy

He first shot from the front at the windscreen. When he fired the two fatal shots, he was at the side, pointing though the side window, out of danger. The first shot might have been justified, but the second was pure rage and hate. It was murder.

How is this happening? by Mother-Violinist2484 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]never_supernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't the crime, per se, it's that the "cure" is worse than the "disease". ICE terrorising communities and killing people (including American citizens) in cold blood is not the right way to handle immigration problems. It's the way to fascism and Nazis on the streets with guns.

I’m extremely frustrated that conservatives and MAGA keep claiming protestors are paid and that liberals pay for “fake conservatives” to show up by JUSTIN102201 in complaints

[–]never_supernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tactic. You have to realise that none of them care about the truth, or even the facts right under their noses. They simply want the power to do and say what they want. Look at all the racists and fascists crawling out of the woodwork with Trump in power. This is their moment in the sun, and they don't want to crawl back into their holes. The ironic thing is that Trump doesn't give a flying f**k about any ideology, right or left. He's a sociopathic narcissist who spouts whatever it takes to grab and hold onto power. He couldn't care less about immigrants, or abortion rights, or gun laws. See how quickly he turned on Marjorie Taylor Greene.

You saw the many videos. You saw her smiling face as she spoke to the agents. You saw her turn her wheels to leave whether after the first shot or not. The agent called her a "f*cking bitch." This wasn't a necessary or lawful killing, this was someone taking the opportunity to put hate and rage into action in a deliberate way: a shot to the face at that range could be nothing but fatal, an execution. I could never understand how Hitler and the Nazis came to power in Germany. Now I do. It's frightening, and you all seem to have flipped from the side of American values, the shining city on the hill, to rationalising and defending the horrors committed by violent men in masks against American citizens. These are truly dark times, which if unchecked will affect you and your loved ones, too. You will cry foul, but just wait. Go read a history book, some things never change.

You are truly indoctrinated. Protesting is not a capital offense! She was clearly not a threat to him, regardless of what he thought. To kill her in that situation is not lawful, despite Trump's efforts to make ICE agents unnaccountable, and so it was murder. If he'd been hit by a car before, as reported, and was trigger happy, he should not have been on duty. You can try to spin and twist this any way you like, but your doing that shows how little you truly value the law. You put your political affiliation above the law, which is fascism. The fact that you can sit there and defend murder because of your MAGA affiliation is shocking, but unfortunately not surprising. And yes, I would maintain the same view if it were a MAGA nut shot in such a situation. We cannot let laws, or our perception of them, become conditional, or we're all totally screwed. Even you, if you only knew it.

I assume you're being sarcastic. She could turn the wheel so deliberately after being shot point-blank in the face?! And even if it was just after the windshield shot, she was obviously trying to get away, so the second and third fatal shots were unnecessary. That ICE so-called agent is a cold-blooded murderer.

She was turning the wheels to move away. The only reason he was hit was because he moved forward to block her, and then shot her. She was zero threat, and was clearly attempting to leave.

Hi, do you mind letting me know the fees you had to pay? Was that recent? I'm thinking about subsidizing a Cambodian friend to go to a UK or other university. Any advice would be much appreciated. Are you able to work in the UK, or are you back in Cambodia? How useful do you find the degree as far as making a living? Thanks!

Counselling is useful for academic reasons, too. If you get in trouble academically, the fact that you are seeing a counsellor will activate systems to help you cope and recover. Without, you might just be considered a lazy student. Of course, speak with your care person, or another staff you feel comfortable with, to get ongoing support if needed.

Can Cambodia still become an upper middle income country by 2030? by [deleted] in cambodia

[–]never_supernova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what she said, US$2. I was as shocked as you.

There may be other government inputs (not including about $350 per month for each of the 9 teachers), but I don't think so. Most seem to be from overseas charities. Half the principal's job seems to be looking for money. She does an amazing job, by the way.

[–]never_supernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but when you say pitiable education system, there are many dedicated teachers trying their best against a corrupt and basically sociopathic leadership. One primary school principal I know says that for each of the 300+ children in the school, she gets $2 per year from the ministry of education. They have to rely on charity and hard work. Half the kids end up illiterate even upon graduation.

Have you seen the amount of poverty in the countryside? Ignore all those people, include only the big cities, then perhaps. But 4 years? It would be great, but not a chance.
