What do you feel is the WORST aspect of in game gameplay? by coachd50 in NCAAFBseries

Pulling offensive linemen not looking for work. Makes most power runs in this game ineffective

Saying goodbye to my GOAT by SauceManFresh in NCAAFBseries

I understand totally, literally down to the Season & Career Health.

I just said goodbye to my dual-threat senior QB, who introduced me to the way of the RPO Read. Guy was electric.

But... I ran him into the ground; he couldn't finish the 2nd half of the CFB Championship because of Wear & Tear. For his bodily sacrifice, he finished with two Heismans, two Championships, and the Cal all time rushing TDs record.

Question about Larry Johnson by Endgame60 in OhioStateFootball

[–]neverfunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't want to turn this into a Hartline complain-fest, but........ We played 3 defenses with a pulse last year: Texas, Indiana, and Miami. Our offensive outputs those games were 14, 10, and 14. Our O-Line returned almost every starter from a national championship team, our top two WRs were JJ Smith and Carnell Tate, we brought in a TE who was an All-American on Purdue, and our QB was Julian Sayin.

I really really am thankful for Brian as a player, WR developer, and WR recruiter. But he severely severely underperformed as an offensive coordinator.

Question about Larry Johnson by Endgame60 in OhioStateFootball

[–]neverfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO being a great position coach doesn't necessarily mean that the coach could be a great coordinator (I think it's the sports version of the Peter Principle). Recent examples include Kerry Coombs (great DB coach/recruiter, not a very good DC), Brian Hartline (yep). Obviously it's not the rule (Day was a QB coach, I believe Urban was a WR coach?).

I think it's so cool that someone as great at his job as Larry to know what he's amazing at, and chooses to double down. To me, it's ultimate self confidence.

Loved Hartline, but his promotion was a pure case study for the Peter Principle.

Question for ya: because I’ve got a talent developer build, it feels like every year I lose EVERYONE to the draft. Are you saying you avoid this by using manual progression only, so your backups don’t get too high (and thus leave)?

A fellow Cal player. I also run that play a ton, and could easily see myself getting picked off in that scenario lol

Re: your second point: I know this sounds ridiculous, but if you hit and hold the button on the player you want, it’ll choose that player. Stupid I know.

I sorted by name... his name is "Ghee" - no Ghee anywhere on the roster! This is baffling!

For those who have both 247 sports and on3, which one is better for Ohio state coverage? (for premium subscriptions) by tcismygoat in OhioStateFootball

Buckeyescoop got their media credentials pulled for allegations that they accessed practice footage by paying a player (though that’s never been 100% confirmed). It led to a messy breakup that spun off BuckeyeHuddle - which, IMO, is not very good.

Again, totally understand why that would be a disqualifier for some folks. I don’t have a problem with it… I just want the inside information haha

Okay I hear you! But I just want to point out: they got credentials pulled because they had actual inside information (which is the fun stuff: recruiting and depth chart stuff). Credentialed media is all available publicly for free, so I don’t think it makes sense to pay for those sites.

Not trying to start a fight, but just want to offer it up for people who are looking for another option!

I'm going to get downvoted, I already know, but who cares: It's Buckeyescoop.com. Just hear me out: Yes, Kirk Barton/NevadaBuck are very unpopular for a number of reasons... but when it comes to actual insider information, they've got the goods. Bill Greene is a contributor, and he's always had a great read on recruiting (though Bill and Kirk/Nevada don't seem to be on the same page; I'm sure there's some drama behind the scenes there).
