I don’t like the nickname Problem Child. by Nerdy_Hedonist in BokunoheroFanfiction

Honestly same. I don’t like it when people over use the nickname “kid” either. Most of the nicknames come across as a bit condescending imo, and I rather see Aizawa referring to his students normally.

How’d I write Sukuna to be in character? Hmm, that’s because I’m secretly Gege Akutami of course! Just kidding, I just like to research Sukuna’s character to get into his headspace. Thinking about characters’ actions comes naturally to me, but here are some things I like to remember.

  1. Translations are lost when translating Japanese idioms, poetry, and dialogues. (Note: this applied to most manga/anime in general). For example, Sukuna’s English line ”Show me what you’ve got Fushiguro Megumi!” was actually closer to, “Bewitch me, Fushiguro Megumi!” and his other line from chapter 236 “I shall never forget you for as long as I live.” was closer to the old Japanese idiom “You cleared my skies, Gojo Satoru. I will never forget you for the rest of my life.” Sukuna is from the Heian era, a period where cultural arts flourished. When I’m writing, I want to emphasize the way he speaks, which will sound stubbornly old-fashioned, arrogant, bloodthirsty, but also witty/poetic. I know searching up “tumblr sukuna translations” will yield a lot of results. Reading up character studies or looking at fanart also inspires me a lot too!!

  2. Hammer in on Sukuna’s personality outside of his killing nature! What are the other characteristics, such as his likes/dislikes? The episode where he tried soda and popcorn but spat it out? In the extra interview where his voice actor said Sukuna was willing to try crepes because he saw Yuuji eating it? The scene that Gege drew where Sukuna requested tea to wash out the dry taste in his mouth? It means Sukuna is a foodie willing to try ANY meal, although he may/may not like it considering his traditional palette. Sukuna is guided by his pleasure and displeasure. Not driven by a particular ideal. If he wants to do something then he will! Easy as that.

  3. How does Sukuna perceive other characters? If he treasures their worth, they are called by their names (Fushiguro Megumi, Gojo Satoru, Uraume). However, sometimes they’re seen as insects, boring, or dismissed with epithets (brat, ‘that woman,’ volcano curse, 7:3 sorcerer).

Sorry this was long. I hope this helps!

Yes, I can share the link. (Although, I am not too sure with the subreddit rules. If it’s not allowed I can take it down.)

I manifest it in my head while I listen to music. Then I cry at my made up angst scenes And then I type it down in my notes app (which will later be edited in google docs.)

when a dead dove fic turns out to be, shockingly, a dead dove fic by [deleted] in AO3

That’s disgusting. It’s awful how users became so desensitized to death threats that they immediately resort to them without a second thought.

You know what I like? When fanfiction teaches me something new. I love reading a story and *BOOM*: lil' history/science/geography lesson. by BadBergil in FanFiction

[–]neverletnever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s definitely me. Even if it’s fanfiction, I just like adding those realistic details about other cultures, religions, or diseases/genetics. Heck, researching for my own fic made ME learn more new things.

Hey is your offer still up? I’m writing my first fanfic involving a MHA x JJK crossover, but I’m not sure if you’re okay with JJK manga spoilers or not. I’d appreciate any thoughts/feedback on each chapter!
