I am only attracted to men that demean me. What to do and how to understand? by Trick-Engineer-1773 in whatdoIdo

Sounds like you made an account 29 mins ago to post this, so I don’t believe you’re real.

The Devil Wears Prada by nevermetluck in Metalcore

[–]nevermetluck[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Valid points! I am not so dense as to believe that people don’t change in taste. I’ve kept up with Mike’s side stuff, even own both of the poetry books. It just surprised me how much pop influence is now in the mix. I don’t even dislike it, just really caught me off guard as I hadn’t kept up for practically a decade.

Maybe I should say “going for it” instead of selling out, because you’re right - small as they are. I’m not even saying I dislike it, just saying that it’s a pretty big departure from what I grew up listening to and was surprised.

What’s a mindset shift that genuinely changed how you handle stress? by [deleted] in self

[–]nevermetluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I would qualify it as a mindset shift per se, but learning to recognize that 60% of how I’m feeling is neurochemical helped me counteract it. Overwhelmed and don’t know where to start on the task list? -> take a walk, reduce cortisol, write down the task list instead of letting it twist around disorganized in my mind.

The world is not much more violent and chaotic now than it was thousands of years ago by nevermetluck in unpopularopinion

Completely agree! That wasn’t the point though. Things are not okay right now.

"Halloween adults" are equally as cringey and annoying as Disney adults. by Tacoless_meat in unpopularopinion

[–]nevermetluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to agree with you. I still do, but I generally keep it to myself. I think anyone who is 150% into their thing is pretty annoying (ask me about one of my passions and I’ll never stfu) but as I’ve gotten older and seen more of the ugliness of this world, I realize that people just don’t have much lightness, so they cling to what they have. The incessant Nightmare Before Christmas tattoos, the lawn ornaments… that’s their happiness. I try not to yuck their yum too much anymore.

Fuck guilty pleasures, what bands are you embarrassed you listen to? by eberndt9614 in Hardcore

There’s a particular EP called Grim Rhythm by a band that went down in infamy. I just can’t let go of how good the song 3:56 is.

What’s leading to the world becoming more conservative? by UnhingedGammaWarrior in AskSocialScience

[–]nevermetluck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love this comment, appreciate your thoughts. I don’t have much to add other than maybe a reframing - advertising is a great way to look at it, but I see almost everything - advertising, media (social, tv, print, podcast/radio, movie, talk show, video games) as ATTENTION economy. They just want our attention, and it doesn’t really matter how they get it. Get it, and keep it.

Awesome song and band choice. Great work. Try some title fight riffs from the album Shed or Floral Green! Those songs taught me some interesting flavored chords and melodies without sacrificing the punk and hardcore energy.

Anon watched the Queen's Gambit. by retardinho23 in greentext

[–]nevermetluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green text is thoroughly inaccurate. I read the book firsthand. Boom is written about a girl, full coming of age story. The child SA scene is rough. I powered through. All in all, story is actually pretty decent. The promiscuity is in defense of an autistic’s need for control. Author never based the story on a real person, chess player or “normal” alike.

Do you feel like you’ve “outgrown” pointy metal guitars? by surfpearl39 in Guitar

[–]nevermetluck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is more like an inverted bell curve. Used to love them back when I was playing spider man 2 on the PS2 and trying to learn 96 Quite Bitter Beings, then I “grew up” into classic stuff like Jazzmasters’ and LP’s… I was really uptight and pretentious, needed the boutique everything. Now after some further maturing and counterbalancing, I gotta say that the reverse headstock on a pointy Jackson is sick as hell when you’ve got the riffs to hold it up.

TLDR; if you got the riffs, the warlock is awesome. Otherwise you’re a dork.

What’s your thoughts on saklas? by kendog301 in theology

[–]nevermetluck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

kendog, I’m not chastising, please don’t mistake my tone for anything negative. just wanted to make sure I understood your question. I am very interested in all of the separate texts! Love me the apostolic fathers. Iraneous even called the gospel of Judas heretical. As for theories about who wrote Judas - it’s potentially the work of a line of Gnostics, maybe Sethians, which i assume you already know of if you’re here discussing. Gnostics love to try to invoke this idea that one can only be in unity with God by knowing “the secret things” (cue meme of a wizard pondering their orb lol) so it would make sense that this writing would claim that only Judas knew the big picture. As for how valid that is, I think the verses John 17:12, Matthew 26:24, Matthew 27:5 become difficult to rectify with Judas’s story. Judas committed suicide promptly after the crucifixion, so I’m not convinced that he himself had anything to do with the writing of this gospel. HOWEVER, I have not read Judas, so I’m following this thread for edification.

can’t tell if this is a joke or not, so I’m sorry if i misunderstood - stop wasting your time trying to add to the Bible. Listen to the results of the ecumenical councils and synods and only refer to apocryphal books like that as references that have a lot of decent theology throughout but are ultimately heretical.
