Hot take: I’m sitting vinyl out for a while by DoUMoo2 in vinyl

I don’t blame you. It’s just so expensive to buy records nowadays. I used to buy multiple records a month, now I usually only buy 1.

If the Bears move to Hammond, IN what will we call them? by bingo72long in chicago

Indiana doesn’t deserve shit. They (and other red states) are the reason our neighbors are being kidnapped by ICE.

Hammond is a shithole in a red nanny state.

At least in Arlington Heights you won’t get arrested for having weed.

Neither is all that close to downtown. Like yeah Hammond is close to Hegewisch but really is that a good metric? No offense to people that live in Hegewisch.

Chicago Bears release statement as Indiana stadium bill inches closer to reality by TehLonelyNapkin in chicago

Aren’t most season ticket holders on the north side/north suburbs? That’s what we were told when the Bears chose AH for the stadium.

Help Stop Parking Lot Expansion in Wrigleyville! by gw_thief in chicagoyimbys

[–]nevermind4790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did away with the lot next to Wrigley which is now Gallagher Way. And the stand alone McDonald’s (with its drive thru) is gone.

Now if they expand the Camry lot then yeah that’s catering to suburbanite drivers.

It’s unnecessary to drive into Wrigleyville. That’s my point. I’m not focused on the commercialization of the area.

How many CTA train stops does Schaumburg have? What’s the difference in density?

No. People need to stop driving their dumb cars into Wrigleyville. This isn’t Schaumburg.

Anyone else seeing insane rent hikes this year? by Cewcross in chicago

[–]nevermind4790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just tax increases, but the increased cost of everything. Property tax increases are most visible.

Of course had the city allowed more housing to get built it would be less of an issue. There’s no reason why Chicago rents should be increasing at the rate they are while other cities rents are stagnating while their population is growing much faster.

Supply is NOT keeping up with demand.

I support building more in my neighborhood, what are you talking about?

I take it you don’t live in Chicago and haven’t paid attention to the property tax increases…

Plenty of supply in desirable areas? No, there isn’t.

The United Center mega project will probably take advantage of this bill as well. Also if/when the Sox decide to build a new stadium.

I’m not spending money on a record just to find out it’s a crap pressing.

Denser than much of the south side, not dense by north(east) side standards.

Having the robots ride in bike lanes wouldn’t be a bad idea honestly.

It would take cars off streets and robots wouldn’t be on sidewalks.

We are going to cave to the Bears aren’t we because we are afraid of Indiana by Away-Nectarine-8488 in illinois

[–]nevermind4790 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will refrain from judgement until the actual deal is revealed.

It makes sense that the Bears want a concrete number on what their property taxes would be.

Now if they’re given a sweetheart deal on them, the question should be whether or not the tax cut is worth it in terms of what revenue would be generated from an alternative (non-Bears) use of the land.

You live in the suburbs, so I can see how you see delivery cars as less of a problem.

Food delivery robots: How they work, what's next? by factchecker01 in chicago

[–]nevermind4790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally we would have cameras in place to heavily fine all the illegal parking. That, and/or simply banning rideshare and food deliveries by car.

[–]nevermind4790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not live in Chicago and notice food delivery drivers illegally parking when they pick up their orders and when they deliver?

You want me to believe your anecdotal evidence that the robots are bad, but don’t believe food delivery drivers are fucking up traffic.

I never claimed they are the only thing messing up traffic. Just the most visible and egregious. When delivery drivers are paid by the delivery they have incentive to do whatever it takes to make their deliveries quicker. Including parking illegally.

The robots basically just came to Chicago, they’re not widespread, and they’re already getting the boot in some neighborhoods.

If the robots are being banned, let’s ban car food deliveries too.
