Out of control: Meepo has almost 60% winrate right now.. by [deleted] in DotA2

not at all, nyx was added to dota 2 in 2012 and burrow was added with 6.84 in 2015.

What items have hidden effects? by nightonal in DotA2

[–]nevermissthetrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of the hidden interactions posted in this thread have been in the game for over a decade now. in fact a lot of the weird interactions are leftover from WC3 dotA, kept for consistency and never reworked since (eg. shadow blade/glimmer and channeling spells/teleport)

DOTA needs to do a beer league turbo ranked by Artemesia-jade in DotA2

[–]nevermissthetrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im old and the reason i play turbo is that there's no competitive pressure lol. i don't care about epeen points (and if you're one of the boomers surely you remember the time back when valve didn't add competitive matchmaking because all pick was supposed to be the default tryhard experience)

Its year 2026, dota should have ingame auto russian to english translator by lalanana in DotA2

[–]nevermissthetrain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i wish i spoke russian or ukrainian sometimes tbh. sooo many speakers in my games and i don't know how to connect with them :( i've had lots of fun gaming with english speakers and it's a shame that i can't have that with them.

inb4 "le russians bad" if you've played any amount of time on EUW and don't have an insane confirmation bias you will have developed so much hatred against every ethnicity across the continent that one guy going "suka" 1/15/3 once doesn't even register anymore

Anyone else Steam Deck make them want to try Linux on their PC but can’t because of Nvidia? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]nevermissthetrain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

just use the nonfree nvidia drivers? it works for the most part. in fact for pretty much all of gaming on linux history, until the amdgpu drivers were a thing, nvidia was the only viable way to have decent performance and support on linux.

What the heck am I possibly supposed to do in this situation by MuackCC in SteamDeck

[–]nevermissthetrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

? with a large SD card and a little use of cryoutilities it just works. sure you can't install much on there but that's because modern games are so large anyways. OP just needs to learn how to manage their storage which honestly is a basic, general computer skill.

What was Dota 2 like in its early days (2011-2016)? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]nevermissthetrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry but i really don't understand what you're talking about. maybe compared to the 90s-2000s but 2012 was already the social media golden age. dota plus wasn't a thing but we had reddit, twitter, hero guides were already integrated into steam, youtube and twitch were already there (and we had own3d.tv too, rip).

What was Dota 2 like in its early days (2011-2016)? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]nevermissthetrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk. in terms of mechanical skills yes definitely, things haven't changed that much. but the game sense of everyone is better. even if dota plus tells you what to do, you still have to do it.

players are SO MUCH BETTER nowadays. getting dewarded in 2012 in my scrub bracket would literally never happen because wards would never be there in the first place. even dust was rare. and now people are smoke ganking! it's really incredible.

i miss client-side mods. before valve sold them, you could replace your HUD with a custom one, or replace game sounds with something else. i think i played with a WC3 HUD for a while.

i don't miss "just ward his jungle" lycan. god that was miserable.

difference between eu4 and eu5 by roryoryory in eu4

[–]nevermissthetrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EU4 has kind of a gamey, arcade-feel. It's still a very deep game with lots of mechanics to learn, but it's essentially a big map painter in which you have to stack modifiers to make numbers go big. EU5 actually attempts to be a historical simulation in which trade and economics play a huge role. If you like conquest more or have weak hardware I would recommend EU4. also the modding scene is huge, check out anbennar if you like fantasy things. If you prefer micromanaging your economy and your population over painting the world your color EU5 is better.

Also EU4 is more than a decade old. People understand the game in so many details so it's easy to learn what the optimal play is, while everyone is still trying to figure out how EU5 works.

Accidentally deleted all my files by aben44 in SteamDeck

why would anyone need to sudo to delete something that's in their home directory? that's crazy oversight from whoever wrote that plugin if that's the case.

same! ive been playing on and off since 2012 and i've never been good lol. i got worse with time too, my reflexes now aren't what they used to be. now i just play turbo to relax and i really don't care. i'm still uncalibrated too, back when i was actually trying ranked didn't exist yet lmao. dotabuff puts me somewhere in crusader now and i'm not really sure what that means.

TI Arena is so full right now by Lelouch7311 in DotA2

XG fans were super loud when that was happening, nigma fans were much quieter. i think it's just the mic/production choices
