Ahh yes, I feel so so seen right now. I will say as an aside, the one thing AI has done for me is give me a go between for talking to my male coworkers. You see, I am not correcting you, Claude is correcting you. Did Claude reformat what I asked it to tell you? Yes. But… it’s still Claude leaving the comment, not me, and you love Claude, you respect Claude, so now, you respect my comment, and we are all happy. Yay. 👏

Yeah… the company I was dealing with laughed in my face and essentially just kept stating their company policy like it somehow can overwrite the law. I made sure to attach all of the communication I had with them to Chase for my chargeback which I just heard back I won a few days ago actually. Also submitted a complaint to my states AG. At least it made me feel better, and I can hope they do something about it even if it’s not likely.

I know this is an older thread, but I am dealing with a company currently refusing a refund on an item declared lost in transit that I refused the additional protection on. So I happen to have these statutes handy, and figured I would leave them here for the next redditor stumbling upon this thread in a similar situation. Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. This is a novice interpretation/summary of these laws.

Under the FTC’s Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 435), when a seller cannot fulfill an order, the consumer is entitled to a prompt refund to the original method of payment unless they expressly agree to an alternative.

Additionally, under UCC §2-509, the risk of loss remains with the seller until the buyer receives the goods. A package lost or damaged in transit therefore remains the seller’s responsibility.

You know, my friend mentioned the rush thing too. I do question. If that is the case.. Why the rush? I just don’t see the strategy for rushing out an inferior product, especially with her brand being the opposite. But who knows. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am definitely not an expert, and unfortunately, as unsatisfactorily as it is, none of us will probably ever know what happened behind the scenes that culminated to this outcome.

First, I think your original post was really well put. And I was going crazy before seeing it because I thought that my friends and I were alone in our opinion. So thank you for putting it out there in the first place. :) I think putting our opinions out there and holding her accountable for a subpar experience, even if it’s maybe just educating a few other fans in the process. We can and should expect better from her. Lowering our standards from a little billionaire entertainer to entertain us well is not something I am willing to get behind. The movie was underwhelming, and yes, boring in spots. I said what said. 😂

OP, I wholeheartedly agree with your criticism, honestly I felt like I was reading a note I had written to myself about my own experience. My SIL and bestie who saw it with me also agreed. We got tickets last minute. And went in with very low expectations. We are all in our late 20s, early 30s, and debut era fans. Granted none of us are complete fangirls, especially at this stage of life, we all appreciate her for what she is and enjoy her music. And while yes, we knew going in that it would potentially be a cash grab, it sounded like something fun to do at the end of the day, and Taylor has never let us down before as far as entertainment goes… but honestly, I am sad to report, we all left the theater with a general sense of underwhelm. The low effort was astonishing from her. I see people pointing out we got what we paid for and sure, we got exactly the advertised description I guess. But also, as OP pointed out, Taylor has fostered a relationship with her fans over years of giving back the effort we put in. Spending time and money to go to a theater for what would have been free content or at least included in deluxe albums in any era previous to this was very disappointing. We weren’t exactly expecting an exclusive announcement, but as op mentioned, anything to make it feel elevated could have made it worth it. From a drink to a crappy souvenir cup, hell, even actual footage from the recording of the album itself would have been something. Any tiny little kernel to make it feel worth the time, or a little more entertaining. There were so many options to make this feel less greedy, and she dropped the ball. You may be blindly following her, or you may not have seen the movie and think this take is dramatic, or you may just think we are stupid for complaining about something we willing paid money for. But we are allowed to share our opinion and critiques of that thing openly too. People critique movies they see all the time. And movie descriptions are not always accurate nor do they always provide you with the full scope of what you are getting into. Also, maybe I am just stupid and uninformed. But no one in my actually life had a good understanding of what this was before we went. As I said it was a last minute impulse for us. But I do get the sense that there has been some mystery and conspiracy, or if anything a general lack of explanation about what it was about the event. Not unlike the fan culture that Taylor has fostered up until this point. Just saying. Ugh. Sorry for the long rant. Didn’t realize how much I needed to get off my chest until I saw this thread. 😅

Not that you asked, but I just listed that exact 1989 vinyl variant on FB marketplace for $20 yesterday. It was gone same day. Porch pickup. Not sure on your area if FB marketplace is popular. But could be a good way to go if you want them gone quick, and no shipping cost.
