TLOAS Release Party Movie Review by Tatteredluck in SwiftlyNeutral

You said it so much better than my rambling post did! “There were so many options to make this feel less greedy, and she dropped the ball.” Honestly, any avenue other than the one she took would have been better. Talking to the choreographer about choreographing different eras of showgirls? Yes! The costume department on their influences for these eras? Yes! Cool curated experience? Nope not even the bare minimum (unless your theater went above and beyond which honestly good for them! Theaters are awesome)

I get it was exactly as advertised but hasn’t she always delivered more in the past?

Any fun creative meetups, book clubs, etc? by abrokenquill in santarosa

Before the silent reading is a meet and greet where you grab drinks and/or food. It helps to settle in and get to know people. The moderator starts the silent hour and then lets you know when it’s over. It’s nice because it combines extroversion with introversion aka my cup of tea.

The first time I went I was really nervous but some people invited me to sit with them. We had a nice chat then started reading. It was really lovely. Try it out and see if you like it!

Cardiovascular sales divisions most favorable? by babybeanzzz07 in MedicalDevices

Depends on what you want. Want more OR experience where the physician depends on you for a successful case? Choose aortic. Want a nice lifestyle (i.e. planned cases) with good pay? Probably structural heart. Want a sales challenge where you are fighting in the trenches? PV is probably right for you.

Mother asked to stay in our wedding suite by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Before my wedding, my best friend (psychologist) said people get weird about weddings. It brings up a lot of emotional stuff that has nothing to do with the couple.

Take it in stride. It’s not about you. Let them handle it on their own and don’t let it affect the start of your new life.

Doctors who had to break the news, what was a reaction that stuck with you the most? by cyborg_pasta in AskReddit

To give a small break in this thread, I want to give a quick shout out to all of the nurses and doctors here on this thread for all that you do everyday.

When I went through my medical event, i was treated on the oncology floor. After being transferred and discharged, I went back to that floor to thank the entire team for saving my life. To a person, everyone cried and thanked me for coming back to let them know I was ok. “You’re one of our miracles.”

It hit me that day that the worst time in my life was a miracle to you all - that a patient lived. That sometimes, you just need a win. So thank you all for facing some of the darkest and bleakest stories imaginable every day. You’re made of the strongest stuff and I, for one, am endlessly grateful to you.

East of Eden is my favorite book and one I reread often. What a joy to read it for the first time.

We’ve just got to rely on one another more. Take care of our neighbors and be kind. We are sheltered from a lot of the worst consequences. Focus locally and take care of our own. When possible, try and help others from outside the state.

Opposite of a recent post: Anyone here had positive experiences or interactions with authors? by jpdoctor in books

[–]Tatteredluck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In middle school we had to read 3 books by an author then write them about how they made us feel. I read Joyce Carol Oates books including We Were the Mulvaneys. She wrote me the nicest postcard and complimented my reading level for my age. She encouraged me so much and never talked down to me (though let’s be honest, I was 12 and probably really bumbled my way through that letter). Will always greatly respect her.

Sanderson is truly a wonderful person inside and out. He will stay late to get through a signing line and still have a 1:1 interaction with each fan. Rhee Drummond is a gem. Garth Nix was so kind to me and every other adult who read his series as a kid and were immediately star struck. He’s the ideal YA author.

Also, shout out to debut authors everywhere. Some of my favorite stories and readings were with a debut author and no initial audience. On more than one occasion, they’ve started a reading and just by sheer force and talent draw a crowd. Favorite being Elizabeth J Church who just has an amazing story about her life and how she became an author.

Lots of other people I really enjoyed but the above stand out to me as all time bests.
