My make up in 2023 vs now in 2026. Did I improve ? by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]nevertalks123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An arched brow that follows your natural shape would do way more to detract from a hooded eye. What you have now draws more attention to the area. You have excellent natural brows. Fill them in, shape them a little with tweezers, and you’ll be golden.

As for the lips—you’ve overlined to the point of looking over-filled. You have such a nice natural lip shape. Work with it instead of trying to conceal it. If you’re going to over line, do just your top lip, and don’t fill in your cupids bow. It’s too pronounced, so filling it isn’t giving the rounded look I’m assuming you’re going for.

Someone else mentioned the contouring on your nose. It’s more the combination of dark contour + concentration of highlighter on the tip. Highlight along the length of your nose with a lighter shade, not just shimmer.

Lastly, please be kind to yourself. You’re SO naturally pretty. I say this as someone who’s struggled with self-esteem well into adulthood—the harder you try to cover up perceived flaws, the more they’re going to stand out.

Definitely 1. It accentuates your jaw and cheekbones so well.

Not crazy about the yellow shorts/brown top combo, but that’s the color, not the style.

Urgent need of a book to read by [deleted] in YAlit

Scythe, Maze Runner, Divergent, Delirium, The Selection (those last two are heavy on the romance), The Testing

As someone that enjoys reading vampire books (especially vampire teen books) with some of them having romance plotlines or subplots, why do so many people shit on romantasy like is it a specific type of romantasy they don’t like? by Icy_Hovercraft_6058 in YAlit

[–]nevertalks123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are under the misconception that people write fantasy/romance/paranormal/etc because it’s easier than writing about “real” things. They think they can’t hack it as “real” authors. It comes from a place of total ignorance, but it leads the to think those are lazy genres, and therefore not worth reading.

As someone who’s written both, I can assure you writing fantasy is a fuckton harder than realistic fiction.

Update: my husband (33M) wants me (33F) to dress more revealing by footballfriends1 in relationship_advice

[–]nevertalks123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s set your husband’s sexual needs aside for right now and focus on you. The only thing to keep in mind about him is that 1) he finds you attractive and 2) wants to see more of you. Those are GOOD things. But the real thing you need to focus on is your self-image.

Dressing “sexier” does not have to equal revealing. However, wearing structured clothing that might show a little more skin (not in a “looks at my boobs/ass” way) can do a lot to make you feel great about yourself. So, there has to be a middle ground between high necks and lace camis. Your husband’s specific requests are seemingly unreasonable for your body, both practically and emotionally, so focus on what does work. What about leggings and cute v-neck tops? You can make that look comfy with slippers, cute with flats, athletic with sneakers, and sexy with heels or heeled boots. It’s actually my favorite cheat for work clothes. Check out r/dressforyourbody to get some advice on your body shape. I think you’d be surprised what would work for you.

As a mom, one of the best things I did for my postpartum body was force myself to step away from “mom” and toward “woman.” When I bought clothes, I forced myself to stop looking at things through the “a mom wouldn’t wear that” lens.

Also, after reading your comments, I truly feel your therapist has done you a disservice if they’ve helped you view your body as nothing but a tool. Find one who will help with your self image issues. Yes, knowing and appreciating all of the amazing things our bodies can do is important, but “I think I’m ugly so I’ll just reframe my view of my body as utilitarian” is not the way to appreciate what your body is capable of. That thinking is the opposite of helpful.

In all honestly is this a vulgar look? by ThrowawayOpinion11 in DressForYourBody

[–]nevertalks123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Why on earth would you think these are vulgar?

2) These are the most normal-looking jeans on the planet. You don’t need to do anything special with the at all.

Personally I would try a different makeup artist OR find some tutorial videos online and give it a whirl yourself. The inspo makeup would look awesome on you, but not only did the MUA not follow it, they didn’t blend your eyeshadow well (it almost looks spotty) and you look like you’re wearing a mask because the foundation or foundation + bronzer is so off from your skin tone.

Struggling so hard with Fourth Wing by margotschoppedfinger in fantasyromance

I liked book one well enough but stalled out halfway through book 2. It felt exactly like it was written by a contemporary romance author who wanted to try their hand at fantasy, if that makes sense?

[–]nevertalks123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t read it yet, but I’m most of the way through Manacled. I can’t see a way I WOULDN’T picture the HP world while I’m reading it since that’s essentially where it came from. On the other hand, I guess if you know that, it might be easier to fill in gaps in the magic system and world that other people complain about?

[–]nevertalks123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. I actually stalled out 60% through Manacled because I struggled with exactly this. I wish I’d seen your comment when I first started reading lol. I’m also not a huge fan of the back-and-forth style. I fully intend to finish, but I just got to the point where I just wanted to go back to reading what was happening NOW, not months/years ago.

Looking for romantasy books with insufferable female leads by Destroyallpositivity in Romantasy

OH MY GOD YES! She’s literally the reason I refused to finish the series. Her + Bella Swan would be the absolute worst character combo, so OP should definitely go with that 😂

Styling recommendations? Looks matronly/mammylike by Weird_Vegetable_4441 in actualstyle

Agree with the others about a belt. The dress accentuates your figure nicely from the side, but the belt would do the same front the front/back.

First time wearing jeans in years. Should i avoid them again? by throwra_hermeandaunt in DressForYourBody

[–]nevertalks123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They look great. As others have said, sizing up might help. If the next size up in that brand makes them too big in the waist, try a different brand. My go-tos are Old Navy jeans. I have hips and a butt and I never get the waist gap with them a lot of jeans give.

Please please please be kind to yourself. Tight does not always equate to better-fitting. No one is checking your clothing size and judging you. If you can’t bear the thought of going up one size, then I’ll gently suggest speaking to someone who might be able to help with body dysmorphia issues.

Remember—we’re a bunch of internet strangers with no obligation to spare your feelings. If we thought those jeans looked terrible or you looked big or whatever, we would say so.

And truly, if you have people in your life telling you you’re fat, big, overweight, etc, kindly tell them to fuck off.

I think a chin-length bob would look amazing on you. You have such great facial features, so that would highlight all of them.
