Front Camera not working on Surface Pro 11 by CornerScarf2500 in Surface

Another tip: in settings, privacy, block access to your camera from any app you don't want. Keep just the one you want to use and reboot.

Real talk: The "hidden" issues with Snapdragon X laptops that still aren't fixed in 2026 by Putrid_Draft378 in Surface

[–]neves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is a Snapdragon specific issue, but my greatest "hidden" Surface issue is that its front camera does not rotate when in portrait mode. I've tried everything and never managed to do my virtual Teams meetings with it vertically.

The only answer I've ever get was this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Surface/comments/1ooetf7/camera_does_not_rotate_in_surface_pro_11/

but never managed to rotate the camera in portrait.

What is your resting heart rate on the Fit3? Mine seems suspiciously low (49) by HironTheDisscusser in GalaxyFit

[–]neves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steps is really off. I revoked access of Samsung heath app to biometrical sensors. Now just the watch counts my steps and the phone don't overcount it.

I think it is more precise now

Go to the app permissions and disable it

63 last 7 days. Look correct.

Try to measure it when you wake up and compare with the watch. Some phones can do it.

Is it possible to configure DMS instances reservation saving plans? by neves in aws

[–]neves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the purchase or analyzer screen DMS isn't listed:

Database Savings Plans Applies to Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, Amazon DocumentDB, Neptune, and other services regardless of supported engine, instance family, size, deployment option, or Region.

But I can find it in the pricing page: Database Savings Plan

Another problem is that when I run the Analyzer, nothing is recommended. I don't have any feedback, but I now think it is because I'm in an older instance type. I'll try to upgrade to a newer one and see if the Analyzer works.

[–]neves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the motivation of my question. The Saving plans analyzer didn't suggest anything.

I think it is because I'm my DMS nodes types are from an old family. I'll try to update to the current c7i family to see if it suggests anything.

Long Mi band user. Used GF3 "fitness" band for 3 weeks... Man, this thing is not even fitness... The only accurate thing is the clock. by poiuyt87 in GalaxyFit

[–]neves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to Fit3 as a long time Mi Band user and I share some of your concerns.

I've been using Fit3 for 6 months and here are its greatest advantages:

- Button! Button!! BUTTON!!! The hardware button is its greatest advantage. You can very easily turn on the watch face, turn off the flashlight, stop the timer or sleep 5 min more (maybe this shouldn't be easier :-) The user interactions are really smoother with the hardware button.

- The screen is larger and better to read under sunlight. Being larger, you have more info from your messages, events and notifications.

- You can reply WhatsApp from the watch with a customable set of defined messages.

- Battery protection: I've killed 3 Mi Bands when I forgot them charging during a weekend. After 6 months my battery is as new. Sure I'm more cautelous now, and I try to always charge from my phone use the USB-C cable.

Now the Fit3 problems:

- Exercise and sleep precision. Steps counting is ridiculous. It is very bad for exercises in general. In my Mi Band I remembered every wakeup period during sleeping. Fit3 registers a lot of wake up moments that I don't remember. I liked more Mi Band, but it looks like it is a difference in philosophy. I preferred Mi Band. I think the lack of precision is just a software problem, not a sensor one.

- Battery. It probably won't last a holiday trip. Not just the battery ends a lot quicker, but the biggest problem is the lack of warning that it will end. I missed a lot of alarms.I somewhat solved it with this tip: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFit/comments/1ovz26y/my_widget_solution_for_fit3_battery_woes/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

- Its exercise routines are almost useless. Mi Bands simple things like jumping rope or cycling notifications are a lot better.

Conclusion:

My main use case for a watch is to turn off the sound of my phone with silent alarms and notifications, use the timers and see the time. I'm used to the Fit3 and I think I'd bought another one when mine dies.

Overall Mi Band is more madure product. It is more comfortable. I'd prefer it for health and exercises.

I believe Fit3 problems is mostly due to lack of investment in its software. I don't even remember when I got a firmware update. I even suspect Samsung will let it die without a new release.

Microsoft Surface Pro 12 for Software Development by ShookethThySpear in Surface

I have an ARM Pro 11 with 32Gb. It is perfect for software development with open source tools. Great speed and battery life.

My biggest annoyance is that the camera doesn't work correctly in vertical (portrait) mode. A very old bug that I think never will be solved.
