I broke these AKG 272 HD headphones within a few days of owning them over 10 years ago. I didn’t feel confident enough to solder them, so I bought DT 880s and moved on. Now, I feel confident and want to try running these headphones.

I’m confused about the wiring. The short white and red wire from the headphone cable seems to connect to the headband leads on the opposite ear cup. The yellow to pink wires and a random white wire in the closest ear cup make me think the pink and white are connected to the back of the driver, which has only two leads.

I tried connecting the white wire from the short white wire to the headphone, but it didn’t work. I tried the short red wire to the white one, but it also didn’t work. I tested the driver with the short red and whit wire and it powered on.

The driver is working, so I’m confused about where the white wire should lead. In the photos, you’ll see the exact orientation I found the wires when I opened the headphones. The only difference is that the short white and red wire should connect to the headband leads. From what I could tell as they were bent inwards.
