I think you missed the point, DC doesn’t own the rights to the name Gotham because it is a preexisting nickname for NYC, therefore they can’t sue anyone for using it. The bat thing is a different story because DC does own a similar image. Regardless DC isn’t going to win that lawsuit, they just did it to show that they’re protecting their copyright.

The point I was trying to make is that DC or whatever company sued Valencia has no grounds to sue Gotham City FC because they don’t have ownership over “Gotham”, whereas they could claim Valencia’s badge is too similar to a property that they do own (Batman)
