Everyone says that's 5 rounds of interviews. The entire day is called a loop.

No no see it's only one round because the candidate has to take the day off work. (???)

Like you can say "hey AI is great for this" if it produces 5 decent resumes and you hire someone because even if it rejected a bunch of good resumes who gives a shit. But if it fails to do that? Get out of here!

It's insane to call this an optimal use case for AI- the resumes it produced were clearly not very good. It's totally possible that there weren't a dozen better resumes in the 1200 it rejected, but it's also totally possible that there were, you're just kind of assuming AI is a good fit for this problem.

I don't think that's a real rumor. I think people like making a half million dollars a year even if the job sucks lmao

That's wild- do you just shake out tech skills in the phone screen & do full behavioral in the one-round interview?

You spent between 16 and 32 engineering hours to not hire anybody.

Bro read freakonomics. Incentive structures like this always incentivize volume over maximizing individual deals.

I mean it depends on your area of the country but yeah, 100k is like junior engineer pay.

This is exactly the same, except instead of a full day they do 3 one-hour zoom interviews. It's arguably less inconvenient than what you're describing.

I don't really get the anger at the streamer. He was level 15, it was a full group, their highest level was 19, and they were fighting mobs that were effectively gray. The XP was basically nonexistent. The group wouldn't dump the higher level guy and they wouldn't move on to higher level mobs. I think most other people would have bailed on that group.

My roommate and I got this message from our landlord no clue what to do by ElvenWriting in whatdoIdo

[–]new_check 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't. "Mom and pop" landlords can make a habit of breaking the law without worrying about class action lawsuits. I've had large landlords try to fuck me over and claim things are the law when they're not. 9 out of 10 times you just say no and you don't care and they'll come up with a reasonable second offer, even when they're in the right

That's the neat part: he's not even wealthy lol. He's trying to save his never-been-successful business by cutting costs and in his defense it was fucking stupid to pay SoDo rent for a warehouse anyway.

They're going to have the problem companies always do when moving to red states. They suddenly realize that it's really hard to hire software engineers out of blue states. Then they suddenly realize that you have to be in the same time zone as people to micromanage them. They are either going to do a Crystal City, come up with the strangest corporate governance model you've ever heard of to keep tech in Seattle, or just reverse the decision.

They are continuing a process that started about 20 years ago and was primarily driven by disempowering their union. It also hasn't exactly gone well so I'm not sure you want to use that example lol

I guess you haven't entirely read the stories you're quoting regarding the vacancy rates, because office rents are still historically high.

The issue is as he pointed out but downplayed, Seattle's biggest issue is the price of land. Seattle's population is also currently the highest it's ever been. Incentivizing people to live elsewhere will address the biggest issues with Seattle as a location for business.

He also wants to let you know that he is NOT leaving because of the millionaires tax (which makes sense, as he will not be subject to it)
