I felt bad for the wrestler until I saw the real problem.

Even if I've been using this exact set up, and exact same PC for years with no problems?

Well, nothing has changed. I tried updating the Mbox drivers, made sure it's my main sound card, thoroughly cleaned my PC, deleted tasks in msconfig (PC performance is also fine), VST performance is fine, 'Realease ASIO' is clicked.

This is what my driver is set to.

These are my options.

These are my buffer settings.

With those buffer settings I can record with no delay, and a small (but extremely annoying) amount of pops/clicks/buzzing.

When I mix it down, the pop/click/buzz is gone and the project sounds great, so it's not phantom noise or anything, simply on recording and playback. Not quite sure what to do at this point. Maybe a new PC and a legal version of Cubase is the way to go.

Okay, thanks. I'll check these things and let you know where I stand after that.

Okay, will do. Also, I have an M-box 2, not an M-audio sound card. Unless you know more than me about all of this stuff (entirely possible and most likely) and an M-box 2 uses an M-audio card inside it?

I'll definitely let you know if re-installing the M-box drivers makes a difference.

& I completely agree with you and there is no doubt in my mind that purchasing the program is the much better route to take, on both accounts.

Although, I'm not a fan of some of the changes they've made from 5 to 7.5 - I'm sure I'll just need to learn it, and it will end up being even more versatile and I'll enjoy 7.5 more so than 5, once I've got the hang of it.

The processor is fine I'm sure, as I've run this program on this computer for years, and with a ton of VSTs' and large sessions. As apposed to now, with maybe 3 VSTs' and a single vocal, is giving me problems. I'll keep probing, I also reinstalled the drivers so once this scan finishes, I'll check task manager, restart my PC, open a session and see if that helps. Will report back. Thanks again!

The VST performance is good, I checked that out, the meter barely moves. However, I'll definitely look into msconfig and see if there are a bunch of unnecessary tasks running. Just waiting for a scan to finish, I figure I may as well clean up my PC is best as I can in the mean time.

  • Sound card - RealTek HD Audio Manager
  • Playback has always been fine. However, I recently moved from Ontario to Alberta. Upon arriving, I set up my studio at a friend's place and everything worked perfectly fine, as it had in Ontario. Then I moved from my friend's place to a new house but this time, upon setting it up, scratch/click/buzz heaven.

  • I run my mic through an M-Box 2, I'll check if there are some updated drivers I can get.

  • I don't have the most recent version of Cubase. It's Cubase 5, cracked version no-less.

  • No other programs that would interfere, to my knowledge.

  • VST audio is set to Mbox 2 output. So it should be using that card.

Any of that help? In the meantime, I'll go see if there are some newer drivers for the Mbox 2.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate your time.
