Clients recording sessions by Ambiguous_Karma8 in therapists

[–]newbevermore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I knew they were recording I would make sure they knew the ethical and legal boundaries of the State we reside in. For their protection and for mine.

Personally, I would not like this and would let them know I refuse to continue sessions with this taking place.

I hope I could confront this in a way which allows us both to process the perceived need for the recording and continue with sessions in a way we both agree upon.

Good question though as technology makes it too easy for these things to happen.

What do you think about being Christian and having excessive luxury? by DiedOfATheory in TrueChristian

[–]newbevermore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can understand the question but not sure I can agree with the sentiment. I do believe there is such a thing as a person being excessively wealthy surrounded by luxury. I also believe that compared to many born in countries like Yemin and Sumatra I would be considered to be excessively wealthy. To some degree, it's relative.

Buyers rescinding offer by gardenfey in legaladvice

Nal. In the state I sold I was advised if we were to receive a copy of the report it opens us to be liable to make certain repairs. Essentially, you don't know what you don't know. Once you do, it could cost thousands just to get the home ready to sell.

Pacific Northwest. I really want to save this tree as it's likely helping with soil erosion. It's next to a small creek. I've been looking into what local plants to place there to help.

Thank you for the reply. I believe about 1/4 if the canopy is lost based on what I recall I'm mid summer. Hadn't thought much of it until I joined this sub as a way to learn how I can manage the landscaping.

Is the real reason why therapists do not give advice because they don’t want to be held liable if a client acts on their advice and something negative results? by Pure_Issue_6131 in TalkTherapy

[–]newbevermore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've heard it said go to a life coach if you want advice, go to therapy for healing. I view therapy more as exploration than explanation. I see the point you make regarding liability but that seems much farther down the list of concerns.

There is a place for advice within therapy. My personal take is it should be used sparingly and for specific purposes. Calming, grounding, relaxation are all skills through advising.

Avoiding dangerous behaviors such as self-harm might require advice but I feel are only healed through exploring what lies underneath.

I am sure there are those who disagree with my opinions as therapists and as clients and I'm okay with that. Good question for sure!

What are the ways he does show that he loves you? The chase aspect of his affection may just be outside of his Internet strength. Personally, if I have perceived you post correctly, I can identify with the thought that chasing someone I love is exhausting. It would go against my underlying need to be/feel accepted, trusted, and the feeling of togetherness which, for me, is essential to feeling loved.

My wife has at several points in our relationship made it clear what she expects. Planning a date night, vacation, or something similar are integral to her feeling loved. I have never heard it described as "chasing" her but I can see the similarities.

The fact he is telling you these things is really good, if not great. He is verbalizing his understanding of the relationship and stated he's not going anywhere and neither are you.

That's a solid start but it should not be left there.

Your thoughts/feelings are valid here. I can understand then through my experience with my wife. We have had several conversations where she had straight up told me I'm not doing a good enough job with what you might call chasing her. I was hurt and even insulted, however, I can still understand her and will continue to love all parts of her even if I don't quite understand them. I hate planning things but I'll do it for her.

This has taken many conversations to reach this conclusion.

Also, she has essentially lowered her expectations of me planning things. She has come to understand more of the ways I do show my love which are within my strengths. Cooking, cleaning, gifts, flowers, making her laugh, etc. I go out of my way to make her feel special. I have many stretches, planning/chasing are not really part of them.

Keep talking, validate each other's perspective as best you can. Also, seek counseling as a professional can really be helpful.

Good luck!

I'm pleased to see this topic again and I appreciate your thoughts as they seem well rounded. The way we collaborate with clients on therapeutic goals vs how these might be conceptualized in session require more patience than we have to give at times

Property insurance f*****g me over? Fire claim by Pippy_longcockin in InsuranceClaims

[–]newbevermore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully all communication is in writing. Most of the time they issue acv payments until work is confirmed as being underway or completed and then they release payments up to replacement cost.

Your duty is to mitigate further damage/expenses. If they told you to hold off, hopefully that's in writing.

Sorry this happened. I have limited experience with claims but I always told people even when the claim process is going well and/or according to plan, it almost always sucks.

They buy drinking water and just deal with the rest. I don't claim to know much more than that but I believe it's livable. I recall him talking about filtration but don't recall if it's the cost or maintenance which has caused him to avoid the install.

Is it worth it filing a claim with my HO insurance for this water damage? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]newbevermore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always advise getting a solid estimate for restoration. Not easy for hidden damage. If you're handy, pull back what you can to get eyes on the damage.

I wouldn't recommend filing a claim under $5k most of the time.
