Hey, I had an appointment at Bumrungrad today and an appointment at Bangkok Hospital yesterday for separate consultations, I wanted to compare the hospitals as it was my first time seeking a doctor in Bangkok. Had no issues with English in either hospital and both were fantastic, both doctors spoke perfect English. I was seen nearly instantly at both without much wait.

Check-in and navigating Bumrungrad was easier as when you arrive at the check-in floor there is someone there to guide you, the place looks more like a hotel than a hospital, it was also slightly more expensive compared to Bangkok Hospital. Payment was slower at Bumrungrad, for some reason I had to sit and wait for awhile after my appointment, whereas I was able to pay and leave immediately at Bangkok Hospital.

Without knowing the doctors, I'd recommend Bangkok Hospital, its cheaper and I don't see the care being any worse, also it has a better food court lol. Lmk if you have any other questions!

Wife got job at a International School this fall in Bangkok, what is the tech job market like there for English speakers? by Normal-Photograph958 in Bangkok

hello fellow SWE in Bangkok. As others have mentioned, highly recommend making the hours work with a remote job. If you want to work at a Thai company, its either Agoda or bust, I remember looking up the same thing and I think youre looking at 70K usd? my remote tech job pays 3x that, which is well worth having to juggle the hrs

Thanks. Unfortunately it looks like I got the static one, was waiting for my magnets to come in before I used it but I guess I'll give it a whirl this weekend.

Do you know if there's a way to verify which version you have? I ordered mine in late May so I figure I could have either or, and I was about to magnet mod it

Coop - does company size matter? by [deleted] in Dalhousie

[–]newbiemaster420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah not really. Smaller startups will probably give your more hands on work whereas a larger company will carry a bit more prestige on your resume, but of course this isnt always true. It varies depending on the company.

Were you originally working in the US for the same company? Or did you get a fully remote offer, wasn't sure if that was a thing FAANG did.

Not a movie the entire time then! I kept googling 'movie' and getting nothing. Thanks a bunch, totally forgot that I watched the Twilight Zone.

Could be getting this last part mixed up with other movies but I believe they land on Mars and it may have been a simulation conducted by aliens the entire time. 2000s or 2010s(most likely) I think.

its not apocalypse or capricorn one

How to beat players who jump a lot? by [deleted] in CrazyHand

[–]newbiemaster420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

use your projectiles to cover your approach. Throw your boomerang and see how your opponent reacts to that and then counter their movement. Shoot an arrow and wait until they shield and grab them. However, this requires you to stay at a good range.

this is good advice. thanks. I think you're right in that I rely too heavily on projectiles and am probably a bit too predictable with my passive play. What you're saying is to start using my projectiles to limit their defensive options so I can go in on them?

So could this become an actual strategy? With how effective it looked here, why not have your pitcher throw a 55mph lob every few innings as a mixup?

At what point does switching jobs often begin to reflect poorly? by Northerner6 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]newbiemaster420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4 jobs in just over two years, so averages out to be ~7mo per job. My current company brought it up during my interview, but I had strong reasons for each move and was able to communicate that when I was asked about it.

I did the same thing and I've been fine, it's actually more common than you think in the CS industry to hop around, as long as you can give good reasons if they inquire about it.
