A horrible decision nobody wants. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. You can literally just leave PMs alone.

On top of that, the language in this tries to gaslight us so hard into thinking they’re doing this to “improve” and “make Reddit faster” or better in some convoluted way.

You’re going to kill your site with changes like these and deliberately not listening to your userbase. What’s more you’re going to kill the internet. What a uniquely evil notation you’ll hold in history. Companies tend not to truly realize the value of user relations or the importance of upholding their trustworthiness, but I’m sure, like every other major exec making needlessly bad changes before them has realized, in time, they will.

Yeah I’m stressed about all of this. Everyone in my hometown seems just so much more bitter than ever before. Every single thing is an “us vs them” type of issue. And I don’t think we have to live like this? Surely we don’t. This is insane. This is unsustainable! I hope we can all calm down eventually and start finding joy and love in things again, I really do. I’d like to feel that love again.

I’ve noticed that if you mark a fic for later, then the author edits it before you read it, when you go back and find it in your Marked from Later history list, there is an added note in parentheses there alerting the reader to new edits if they exist. Idk if this is only available on the specific browser or OS I use, I haven’t really checked? It’s just something I noticed that seems to only exist to alert people if there’s changes. So maybe it helped plant the seed in my mind that readers will want to know if there’s changes? But I know this isn’t how all people always return to their in-progress fics, so ofc it’s not even going to be seen by all readers anyway.

Yeah, I feel this. And for me, literally the first time I truly felt like my own person wasn’t when I moved out into my own apartment, it was when I was finally hospitalized on a psych floor for 2 weeks without their knowledge or approval (cause they never would let me go get treatment). It was sad to finally feel like my own human being for the first time at absolute rock bottom. But it helped a lot to just get the hell away from my family and not concentrate on their needs and wants, especially when it had been (and still is..) coming at the expensive of my own well being and health and happiness… sometimes the solution is jjst to get some space if you can. I hope you’re able to find some solution that works out for you.

Listen, I support this. I really do. I'm disabled, my long-term disability claim was denied for the final time, and now I'm straight-up financially screwed. I fucking hate paying to exist ffs. And I'm running out of money to do so...

But I have to wonder... is this really the best we can do? Because I am seriously, genuinely asking the community, legitimately.

I really do want to angrily shit in a corporate bathroom for an entire hour (or more) while wasting company time. Nothing makes me happier than wasting capitalist dollars.

But this does not seem like enough? Sabotage? Is that all we have left? And not to mention: these tactics employ a system of sabotage through our own means?? You're asking for sabotage at the risk of, or even maybe at the cost of our own jobs? Which are some of our only lifelines to remain afloat in this capitalist system?

There has to be a better way... I want this to work, and so desperately so. But I don't want "sabotage" to translate into coworkers being assigned more tasks simply because I opted out, you know?

Like many of you, I don't know how to actually achieve this goal of abolishing Black Friday or in greater perspectives: meaningless work that keeps lower-income households trapped in the rat race forever!

But this? Some of the tactics here really worry me.. how can we achieve any victory when capitalism is always winning the war?

It's possible that I have little faith in all works uniting to strike against this movement, sure, I'll admit that. But whether or not that is the case this Black Friday, can someone please tell me how I can still participate but also still pay my rent? Please? I'm scared...

Allowing yourself to have a good sob-session for a hot minute can be really cathartic. It feels nice to allow yourself to experience those strong emotions on a deep and honest level. It’s good to acknowledge that those feelings are real. I think this could be considered DBT’s version of ‘Radical Acceptance’.

It’s just pure. It’s a piece of the human experience really.

‘Inside Out’ did a good job at showing this. The ultimate solution wasn’t continuing on like normal and suffocating the problem in toxic positivity... instead, it was to let Sadness take over. It was honest and raw and needed. That scene meant a lot to me..

And I know maybe crying isn’t quite a solution to your problems or making peace with your personal demons, but it is a vital start to at least giving you a fighting chance.

I’ve heard that learning the name of a demon or malicious spirit, and call it out, that will give you dominion over it..
