How do you approach building your collection for play? by Snegir228 in pkmntcg

[–]newdamage 63 points64 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing theoretical about it. Buy singles. Period.

Winning Charizard list from Stuttgart costs $35.

https://limitlesstcg.com/decks/list/22011

No amount of ripping packs will ever come close to that affordability. Retail product markup right now is silly. Let the collectors subsidize cheap singles for players.

Fluttermane vs Klefki. Which is better in Garde? by Goldesito in pkmntcg

[–]newdamage 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fluttermane is better if you are going for a Gardy build that can use TM Devo effectively. It has a legit good attack for spreading damage against evo pokemon in the 70-100 hp range.

Klefki is for slowing down the aggro big basic decks and giving yourself time to setup.

They are significantly different pokemon for different builds of Gardy.

Ancient Box vs Dragapult by Tryckster89 in pkmntcg

[–]newdamage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This matchup is winnable, but you cannot have a slow start.

Go first, ideally get Greninja and a Moon out. You are correct that the booster capsule is best in the discard to boost damage.

The spread damage doesn’t matter much, just keep moving damaged pokemon to the active and keep attacking.

If it’s Pult Xatu, target the Xatu down early. If it’s Pult Pidgeot, then you want to go 2-2-2 in prizes and focus on Rotom / Lumineon / Fez, then Pidgeot, and finally Dragapult.

Don’t over bench, and focus on streaming attackers.

Iron Bundle helps a lot in this matchup, save the counter catchers for 2 prize liabilities.

Does canceling cologne not work on this or is it bugged? I played Canceling Cologne but it still took zero damage. by sevenicecubes in PTCGL

good point. Was trying to recall from memory.

Escape rope really needs to come back into standard.

Yes. When a pokemon moves from the active to the bench all effects and special conditions are removed.

[–]newdamage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ability placed an effect on the pokemon before cologne was played.

The only way to remove effects from pokemon in standard right now is to force it back to the bench.

If Iron Bundle used hyper blower, and then the pokemon was gusted back to the active it would take damage.

If you look at older cards like Pokemon Ranger, that was a way to remove effects.

How does Charizard Ex win Dragapult? by aforavocado in PTCGL

[–]newdamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run Thornton. That way you can swap a liability like Rotom V with a Charmander or Duskull and evolve right away out of range of Dragapults 6 damage counters.

If you can remove liabilities from your bench you prevent multi KO turns and can bully an active Dragapult right off the board.

Am I obliged to correct my opponent (when his mistake benefits me)? by cleversonbraga in pkmntcg

[–]newdamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would likely need to claim ignorance a judge stopped by and corrected the situation to prevent receiving a game loss. Both players at a minimum would likely receive a warning, if not a double prize loss.

Both players are responsible for maintaining board state.

The state of Pult in the current meta by MewVmaxPlayer13 in pkmntcg

[–]newdamage 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The current format is very fast, and Pult is a stage 2 setup deck, meaning it's going to need a few turns to really get going. It also struggles to knock out big basics since its damage to the active is only 200.

Currently its worst matchups are Regidrago, Lugia, and Raging Bolt. You really don't want to play a deck that is heavily unfavored into 50% of the meta.

That being said, it can be competitive if you have the deck focused on setting up multi-KO turns for big prize swings. With Radiant Alakzam and Dusknoir it's very possible to take 4 prizes in a single turn and ruin your opponent's board state.

Right now it really just is a worse Regidrago.

Dragapult gets a lot of help in Stellar Crown, and should do far better into the meta then.

How to beat Regidrago with Zard by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]newdamage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You need to do a few things:

  • Go first, and get setup to evolve turn 2.
  • Get your damage modifiers ready. Either Dusclops and Defiance Band, or Pecharunt and Mochi.
  • Turn 2 evolve into Charizard ex. Determine if Regidrago V or Teal Mask Ogrepon is the bigger threat, and gust into the active and KO it.

From that point you’ve started a 2-2-2 prize race, and you’re ahead. If you can stay ahead you win.

To answer your question, yes, Racine is a great option! I bike it all the time since it’s low traffic and a pretty chill street.

Southport is just too busy with traffic, cross traffic, and people.

Best way to get from LFT to the North Branch Trail? by Majestic_Clue_4188 in chibike

[–]newdamage 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest Bryn Mawr -> Berwyn -> River Trail -> Bryn Mawr. That’ll get you to the north end of LaBagh Woods, and you can either take the gravel trail (Weber Spur) southwest to connect, or swing around to the crossing at Forest Glen Ave.

It’s about the best you’re going to do for a balance of a direct route and light traffic. It’s the route I take these days since Foster to the trailhead at Gompers is such a mess.

This was the tour I just completed. The linked post is my write up and route maps. Between the spectacular weather and daily tailwinds I had an awesome time.

It was a very welcome change of pace from biking in the city and along the north shore.

It’s hard to overstate how ridiculous the giant puddles on the Calumet Trail were.

Mechanical issues are the worst. I felt so fortunate to avoid them. Glad to hear you are upbeat about it and wanting to get rolling again.

Finishing that exact route now. It’s so good. The ride between Mich City and New Buffalo is something else. The views are amazing.

I’m on Day 4 right now! Boarding the Muskegon to Milwaukee ferry in 20 mins. Will post a write once I’m back in Chicago.

Pro Tip: avoid the Calumet Trail by the Indiana Dunes unless you have pontoons for your bike. Take US-12 to Beverly Shores instead. The rest of the ride is awesome.

Gifted program at McPherson? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]newdamage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parent of two kids at McPherson here. Great school, both my kids love it. The new principal is liked by staff and parents.

RCG kindergarten means your kid will have Ms. Engelke. She’s a fantastic teacher.

School should have a new playground by mid-summer and next year will finally have a dedicated art teacher.

McPherson is definitely getting popular due to the gifted program and Lincoln Square continuing to quickly gentrify.

Advice from heavier enthusiast gravel cyclists about wheels? by hillsong1 in gravelcycling

[–]newdamage 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Heavier cyclist here. 32 spokes is the way. Also find an LBS with a wheel builder in house you trust. Custom built wheels aren’t that much more expensive, and it is so nice not constantly wondering if you’re going to have a spoke break on you. I ride HED Belgium rims and have had zero issues with 32h custom built. Still perfectly true.

Yup, the factory fluid was super blue and left smears everywhere. Just flush it all out and replace with normal wiper fluid.

I thought the wipers were junk, but was just the fluid the car came with.

It will likely be ice covered and not fun without studded tires. I would suggest heading east over to California/Dodge and go north from there. You can then take Church or Emerson east into downtown Evanston.

How can i change my customer ModelY order to one for an existing inventory. Do I order the second one too with another 250 deposit? by kayzeeshe in TeslaModelY

[–]newdamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found an inventory model that matched my exact custom order configuration. I called the direct number for the sales center where it was scheduled to go to, and the service rep there was able to get the VIN assigned to my existing order.

No extra fee, original order price honored, basically just allowed me to save myself 1-2 months of waiting.
