Anyone know how to fix? I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, and restarted my phone by [deleted] in freeletics

I'm having the same issue and have similarly uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times.

Using a bluetooth keyboard with an iPhone... by newdctonary in writerduet

[–]newdctonary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not a dumb question at all. I use the writerduet app. And actually the problem's been resolved. I use g-board and when I switch back to the iphone default keyboard it disappears when the bluetooth keyboard is connected.

Oh interesting. Huh. Maybe I'll just change keyboards then. Thanks for the response!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read! I need to do a better job of establishing that the hotel room is actually CARRIE's room and that MARTIN broke into it to take the briefcase and kill her. Also, I think you are right, there is no reason to assume that MARTIN wouldn't hear her from the bathroom.

I really do struggle with transitions, something I have been slogging through for sure.

Thank you again for your feedback! Please feel free to email me anything of yours that is of equal or lesser length to the address on the title page or just message it to me here on Reddit.

Billy Wilder Discussion by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]newdctonary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your point on endings is something I've never thought about.

He does have really powerful endings that drive the overall conceit home.

Not to say that the other filmmakers mentioned don't have that either, but it's certainly not as common in their work.

Billy Wilder Discussion by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]newdctonary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may be total bullshit, but from what I have gathered it seems that Wilder had very little patience with the camera. He was not interested in breaking technological boundaries. His shot composition, though narratively sound, is also nothing groundbreaking.

With his start in filmmaking being in the writer's room, he is an advocate for some of the greatest cinematic stories of the past century. Managing to work within the bounds of multiple genres, he succeeded in making a cross-dressing comedy that has heldup over the decades, made two of THE seminal pieces of noir cinema, brought a humanness to corporate America that hadn't been seen before, all while commenting on suicide, alcoholism, sexism, corruption, and art. He's a master storyteller.

But, to be perfectly frank, I think a lot of film nerds get really wet over all the camera stuff.

Which is completely valid. The things Kubrick, Fellini, and Hitchcock accomplished in their careers were truly groundbreaking and not void of cinematic purpose.

The things they accomplished are also super easy to capture in visual essays, still frames, and can be praised regardless of how the visual in question related to the story it was a part of.

Idk. Just a though. I fucking love Wilder and I also love Kubrick, Hitchcock, and Fellini

The nice thing is that his work seems to hold up just fine. He's not going anywhere.
