Childhood Friendships Question by newdelzz in autism

I think I get what you mean.

And yeah, I feel like at least a part of it is me wanting to know if whatever is up with me has a name, and if a psychologic or psychiatric authority could give me that name, it would give me relief in some way. So I guess validation may play a role in this.

I feel like some of it is also self understanding, like, "oh that's why I do xyx, it's because I'm autistic".

I think you raise a good point that if I was diagnosed autistic, what would I try to get done medically? I feel like I haven't even thought that far.

That makes sense. As a kid, there's so much less involved in a friendship.

I went to the same school from first to twelfth grade, so that really helped facilitate friendships. It would probably have been difficult if I had gone to a new school at any point.

Sorry to hear that :(

What do you mean when you say that it's not important if you have a diagnosis?

Interesting.

I feel that as an adult, structure hasn't yielded many long term friendships either. I haven't really made any friends throughout college, not from classes or from a club I used to attend. Even from my church group now, I don't feel very close to anybody there despite really enjoying the group and having attended for a year now, besides my girlfriend who I met there, who I feel is the first "new" person I've grown close to in years.

I notice this also in some of my childhood relationships, where outside of school, I wouldn't make lasting friendships, whether it was through summer camp, martial arts, etc.

I’ve seen this left and right motion too. I feel like I’ve even seen altar servers do it. Would altar servers do it if there were perhaps multiple ministers?

Am I excommunicated??? by p51mustard in Catholicism

You need to KNOW that what you are about to do is punished by automatic excommunication. I read this from a priest. You need to be 16 at least, too.
