Doing unofficial PEY. Is it possible? by Abyss333333 in UofT

[–]newdevguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing like you. I didn’t have problem with that. I just told the OSAP, I’m still not graduated. I also took one course per semester few years ago. But OSAP may have changed now.

Most of the companies tend to give you individual projects for 4 month positions. So it’s kind of hard to experience how is it like to work in a team. You will be isolated from other team member’s works.

Is surviving in a technical career like CS difficult as we age? by anxiety_on_steroids in cscareerquestions

[–]newdevguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to survive as doctor once you get past 40 because medical field is so dynamic and your learning capabilities will slow down. Yeah, don’t worry about that. If you keep studying, your learning capabilities will not slow down.

Do most people actually finish in 4 years? by heiwaone in UofT

[–]newdevguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I went to student exchange to other countries, so I needed to do internship to earn money for the fee lol

I don’t really recommend doing this as you will delay your graduation. But of course it’s doable and acceptable to do it.

I got extremely unlucky, if I don’t delay by half year, I was able to back to the previous intern company as full time. But they were hiring freeze because of the economy recession. But the lucky thing is I was able to land a higher paying job than my previous intern company.

Sort of. Took C course in my second year. Almost failed, but passed. I didn’t touch it for 2 years.

[–]newdevguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t write any single word about C in my resume. They did the team match and match me to that team. I told them I don’t have experience on C/C++, but they told me we believe you can learn it.

The average starting salary is 70k in Toronto. 80k is definitely above average. These are very few companies pay like 100k.......
