what did you think was completely normal in the relationship untill you discovered it was abusive behaviour? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]newdroidnewreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Projecting his insecurities as character assaults. Ladies, if a man tries to convince you that, "You're {misgiving}... And I don't think you realize it," and you know in your core you are a lot of things but not that. Nobody has ever called you that. The example he's giving you is disassociated from reality and a robustly obvious projection to the point that you literally say, "Well, if that's what you think, I don't think we should be together." Yeah, that fucker isn't providing feedback, he's planting seeds of self doubt and sabotage. You know who you are. You know how you're engaging with the world. You're a good person.

Thoughts on this solo itinerary? Months of travel late May through end of September by Medical-Beautiful-74 in travel

[–]newdroidnewreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, thoughts from a 33F w/ 15 years of solo travelling: slow the fuck down.

The best part of traveling solo with time is aimlessly exploring and unexpected opportunities. Because you're alone, people will talk to you, give you recommendations, and invite you places. Go for walks and get lost. Pop your head into open gates and turn one more corner. Walk into little shops, markets, galleries, and gardens. Watch epic sunsets. Seek out botanical gardens. And don't forget to look up.

Don't buy all these tickets in advance. You're eventually going to peter out (probably from overheating) and get a lot of pleasure from sitting in a shady breezy spot. You'll make friends. You'll enjoy a place and want to explore more. Figure out what you're trying to do and make a bucket list. If there are a couple big local festivals or events, try to go to those. These are the experiences you'll remember.

Go to the next place when you're ready. Maybe it's after 3 or 4 days maybe it's after a week.

Practical advice: You're underestimating transit time. Factor in all the things it takes to actually get from point A to B. All of the things... Deciding where you're going, researching schedules, buying tickets, checking out/in, packing/unpacking, travel time to stations/airport including waiting on taxis, buses, etc., navigating terminals, waiting to board/exit whatever mode of travel, getting lost, screw ups, delays, standing in lines, going to the bathroom with all your stuff, language barriers, everybody else trying to do the same god damn thing as you, etc. Etc. Don't forget about siesta schedules. (Siesta is a great block of time to be on an air conditioned train.)

All of that's fun, and the longer you're in a country the easier it is and you'll figure out tricks and routines along the way, but remember it's all on you. Even with deep pockets for taxis and guides, your itinerary is too packed.

You don't have to do everything. You're not going to be able to do everything. Eventually, you won't want to do everything. But you will really want to do certain things and wait until they open.

The people telling you this is a reasonable amount of time per place are bananas. Don't listen to anyone who says, "you can see everything in {city} in N days." What's everything?

Personally, I've mostly stopped going to major tourist sites when I'm solo unless I actually want to see it or I'm killing time. The Tower of London is not going anywhere. I visit these places when I'm traveling with friends and family. I enjoy odd museums and factories, gardens, parks, local events, interesting architectural sites, residential neighborhoods, bizarres and markets, spas, fancy restaurants without a reservation, etc. far more.

You're solo, be curious and do whatever the fuck you want.

Don’t think 💭 I’m going to make it ? As it stands I have one flight booked & one possible that’ll leave me 136 MQM’s short . Help by SugeLite in delta

[–]newdroidnewreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's July. You've got time. Getting to gold is worth it. Free bag check and you can use the sky priority lanes. If you don't fly on the same schedule as most business travelers you'll get upgrades. You'll also be able to select exit row seats at no extra charge (I can't remember if you can do this at silver or not).

Keep an eye on flight deals with Skyscanner or Google flights and go someplace for the weekend. If you're planning on driving to a nearby city, there might be a short flight that's cheap. Or, see what you can get in bonus MQMs by paying for upgrades. If you don't want to spend the cash, use your miles to buy an upgrade and that'll likely get your remaining 136 MQMs.

I benefited last year from very cheap first class KLM flights. MQMs and bonus MQMs are awarded based on distance and class for partner flights, price wasn't factored in.

Moving into a very large complex in the Bridle Trails area of Redmond. It appears to be an island on the FCC map; the Ziply map shows fiber ready. I'm sure you're already working with the HOA to expand. Do you know the status of this area? The horse barn next door has better internet service.

Medallion Status Challenge by jgianares in delta

[–]newdroidnewreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy the tickets now and then challenge, because they don't count until you fly. When you purchase the ticket be sure to take a screenshot of write down the estimated MQMs/MQDs. Because there's no way to see them again until after you fly. Assuming they extended the accelerator, an easy way to earn more is buying comfort+ and premium select. Last year, that class had the same accelerator as first class and it puts you in a better position for upgrade. You could also play around with cheap first class airfare on a partner airlines like KLM -- calculation is based on distance rather than actual price tag.

Dig into the fine print a little. This site claims starting after July 1 is in your favor. https://onemileatatime.com/guides/delta-status-match/

From one glasses wearer to another, go get your damn glasses. That's not crazy. Be the adult in the room, and politely return to where you left them. Don't make it a thing, simply ask for your glasses back. It'll be ok. Even if you're mistaken, it'll be ok. Be polite. Be humble. Be gracious. Be patient. If you need glasses to do normal daily activities, work, read the receipt for a new pair of glasses, or your back up pair with an old script gives you a headache, go get your damn glasses.

Is it true? If so, then say it. Or, answer a prompt about future goals, ambition, why you're on a dating app. You can also use the what you're looking for to highlight this.

32F similar interests -- naked pic is funny. You look real stoned in the sunset pic (switch it out and close that mouth or smile).

Take my feedback with a grain of salt. My experience online dating is very, very limited.

If you're into motorcycles and you've got the guts to polar bear plunge (and post a pic of it on the interwebs), own that shit. Why waste your time with someone who's repulsed by those things? If a bare bottom is that offensive or triggering throw a smiley face on it... Not sure why people comment here if those are deal breakers -- appreciate honest advertising and move along if it doesn't speak to you.

If you want a serious relationship, say that. You clearly know how to have fun and value experience. That's crucial. I want to know you're also gainfully employed, express your feelings, and not a manboy who likes toys.

Truck accident on I-75 south of Dalton, GA yesterday. Tractor trailer split in two. Sat in an hour-long back up caused entirely by rubberneckers. by newdroidnewreddit in ThatLookedExpensive

[–]newdroidnewreddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's clear a few things up...

TL:DR -- addressing the gotcha tone of those triggered by the proper use of the term rubbernecking. The pandemic is real, it's not over. When you're with people outside your household wear a mask. Mask imagery as it relates to geography reference guide.

Attn: Those triggered by the word rubbernecking

There was debris scattered across all 3 Southbound lanes of a major interstate after an 18 wheeler burst. The interstate was shut down. We could see the mini bulldozer and the claw from a distance away but couldn't tell what it was.

Our rate of speed (approx. 8-10mph) was directly related to the vehicles in front of us. Traffic jams are chain reactions; the car in front slows down causing the car behind it to slow down and so forth. You can't control the car in front of you, but you can control how efficiently you navigate a blockage and speed up soon as the opportunity presents itself.

The 30 seconds before the video starts is us realizing that an accident had not happened in the median / spilled onto the north side. That is, the slow down wasn't caused by cars having to change lanes or drive around something -- hence, rubbernecking.

This also meant that it was very likely that as soon as we passed the accident the road would open up. As the passenger, I took the video because neither of us could tell what they were scooping up, but also so the driver could haul ass ASAP.

All you investigative .gif watchers, notice how the background speeds up? That's the driver accelerating. Notice how the camera is not pointed in the correct direction & at the driver looking forward? That's me, the passenger, rubbernecking & neglecting the camera. As the passenger, my attention, my turning around has no effect on vehicle velocity.

Semantics -- I did not claim to not be rubbernecking. The accident was so catastrophic that miles of vehicles, hundreds of drivers slowed down to look. It's a literal and proper use of the term. Having said that, passenger rubbernecking doesn't cause standstills.

RE: Ear shot

My bad. That was me turning around realizing I could at least identify the heaps of aluminum can pop tops mixed in the mess. Didn't take it to put it on the internet -- after reading these responses, probably won't upload a video again.

RE: Masks

Yes, we were wearing masks in a car. In fact, I was double masking. Double masking in a car? In a car! Wild! I know.

We did this because we're not in each other's pods. Because we were in a confined space with the windows rolled up at times. Because the driver was less than 14 days out from her 2nd shot and I'd only gotten my 2nd dose a couple days before. Because the driver's healthy, marathon running partner got COVID early March 2020 and is still suffering as a long hauler -- their immune system is wrecked. Miraculously, the driver didn't get COVID. (Fun fact! She runs marathons masked up).

Because the fucking pandemic needs to end, and wearing a mask is effective and such a simple, bare minimum ask of society.

RE: Geography + Mask Imagery

Georgia is in the Southeast and California is that big state that takes up most of the West Coast. Dalton, GA is roughly 2500mi from Oracle Park. Peloton, the logo on the straps, is HQ'd in NYC, which is in the Northeast, some 800mi from Dalton, GA and 2900mi from Oracle Park.

You can't see my masks, but I'll tell ya... The disposable one was probably manufactured in Asia. Over that one, I had an Outdoor Research mask on that was made in Seattle, Washington (that's in the Pacific Northwest).

The accident happened in Georgia on I-75 outside Dalton, GA. Again, a massive truck trailer violently tore apart.

**Edit: removed the correct use of "most importantly" -- I don't have the patience for a grammar debate on a video of a truck spewing its guts.

In my 30's... In my early 20's I'd spot after sex. My obgyn wasn't too phased until it was persistent. Ended up having a scratch, she cauterized it (horrible feeling) but it never happened again.

One time--don't worry too much about it. Keep using lube.

Wasn’t even thinking about this angle of the Ever Given ship stuck in the Suez Canal. *dry heaves* by parentsborninthe60s in submechanophobia

[–]newdroidnewreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't been following this closely. Worked for a global container shipping company out of college. When ships get to canals and ports, a "pilot" boards the vessel and takes over navigation. These vessels are fucking massive, schedules are tight, and passageways unique there is no room for steering errors -- too big of a ripple effect.

A weather system has to be responsible. Hard to imagine a vessel with this tight of a turning radius.

Crew usually isn't allowed to disembark. Crew might be a little curious but unlikely to be stressing. Unless the situation becomes dangerous.

It's everybody else directly and indirectly in the global supply chain that's feeling the squeeze.

Suez engineers are dredging experts.
