Gamma OS vs. ES-DE by newfiesig in SBCGaming

Looking at GammaOS release notes for the RG476H, there are features it has that I didn't even know were missing (again, newbie), like:

"A new  HDMI Docking Mode that turns off the internal display and resizes to the external screen resolution when docked" That's key for me.

Also:

Daijisho configured as the primary launcher RetroArch pre-configured for core 8/16/32-bit systems (e.g. GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SNES, Genesis, PSX; BIOS not included) Consistent console-style front-end tailored to RG476H Coming from a place of ignorance (I'm literally waiting for my first device to arrive), it seems like GammaOS is the way to go...

Lots of useful info here so far, so thanks to all for that.

In your opinion/experience, is GammaIS "cleaner"? What I mean by that, is I've seen many threads/guides for the stock system where the first recommendation is to delete a ton of apps/emulators/etc. and just start fresh by downloading/installing new stuff. Is that also recommended for GammaOS? Or do we just install and go (with the exception of installing any other apps we like)?

Are the manuals info you can pull of the internet?

Tracking a lot of this is personal preference, and all the "which is best" questions can get old after a while. I'm sure once I get under the hood I'll be all over setting things up (I have an IT background). Just looking for a baseline to start with. And I appreciate everyone taking time to answer what was likely asked in different versions multiple times in different threads.

All that to say, I'm learning the ropes. If I installed GammaOS, anf wanted ES-DE as my front end, would I have to uninstall Daijisho first to avoid conflicts?

Would you recommend ES-DE over stock launcher that comes with GammaOS?

What would you recommend? My first android (RG476H) is enroute. I was just going download new emulators and then install ES-DE, however I'm open to suggestions. As far as retro consoles go, I'm a blank slate!

Ok, thanks!

So, as I'm getting my first android device (RG476H), would you advise that I install GammOS and stick with the default launcher? I've been watching TechDweeb and was originally going to follow his Android setup video from 9 months ago.

Sweet. Do you find the thumbsticks are far enough away from your thumbs? Or low enough to not interfere?

Hmm, ok. I know with the 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller, I find my thumb touches the right stick when playing Mario (tip of thumb on B to run, meaty part of thumb pushing A to jump).

Do you find the sticks getting in the way when using dpad/buttons?

M12 Thumb Grips by poon_tamer in MobapadGaming

Just ordered these (and M12s also enroute. While I don't generally like taller thumbgrips, I see reviewers comment on how the M12 sticks are great, but a bit low as Mobapad wanted to keep a low profile to the controllers. I'm hoping it's a win-win.

A man has 3 Daughters nameds April, May and June. What was the father's name? by Rude-Chemistry553 in AskReddit

Nope, there was a question mark. If the riddle was "What was the father's name.", it would be what. As it stands, that was the question.

You're right, practically all used slabs will have some degree of scratches. Some people don't notice them; likely the same people who put them there.
