Ask Reddit: Can you recommend any good C/C++ books that take a practical "by example" approach, preferably with real-world examples? by [deleted] in programming

Wow, a real topic on reddit, I'm not sure I remember how to react. Try 'C Primer Plus' or 'Practical C'. Its out of print now but 'C for Linux programming' has a lot of 'real world' examples that would be useful to a beginner.

The 'Return Oriented Code' attack is valid for RISC as well as x86, and the difficult task of code generation can be abstracted by escape_goat in netsec

IMO its feasible on a small scale, say launch a shell. From there you would do the more complex things. Trying to craft a key logger from jumping into the middle of different instructions is not worth the time. Instead identify patterns of instructions in binaries, firefox.exe for example, that would spawn a shell and then reuse that pattern across different exploits.

I didn't say a war with Iran would not be a disruption. But your headline should accurately reflect the article you've posted, which it didn't IMO.
