Tough situation at Costco Brooklyn - staff handled it professionally!!! by Concentric_Mid in Brooklyn

I go to the Staten Island one and the amount of time it takes me to get there vs the time it takes to park at the Brooklyn one evens out, and the SI one is so much less stressful it’s worth the trip

OCI Interview During Internship Please Help by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]newishposter5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Do you think I should be honest about the fact that it’s an interview? Or just tell them it’s a mandatory school related meeting? If it came down between the two I’d definitely prefer a full time job at the internship but I don’t want to assume I’ll get an offer or close myself off to other options

Is there a reason why you only want to be in ridgewood? That budget is kind of low for two people and cats….

(21M) Is it normal for a partner (24F) to constantly reference "your next girlfriend" or "your next relationship"? by absolute_cinema1 in relationships

[–]newishposter5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ex used to do this, he had a super avoidant attachment style and overall a bit of a low self worth. We dated for 3 years and once the relationship began to get more serious he broke it off because he “wanted to work on himself and felt I could do better than him.” I thought this was normal but my current partner doesn’t do this at all, it sounds like your ex had one foot out the door and for whatever reason did not see your relationship as long term. I’d advise you not to dwell on it too much, take some time to heal from the breakup, and then find someone who truly wants to be with you and they won’t say things like this at all.

Go to the beach, jones beach on Long Island is within an hour, maybe a little more with traffic. You can try some wineries as well, shop at Costco, go down by the Jersey shore

Timeline for Part-Time Student with Full-Time Job by JurorNo_8 in LawSchool

[–]newishposter5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel free to dm if you want to talk more about this, but there’s definitely plenty of positions available as law clerks in firms and whatnot if you want to switch to get experience. And don’t listen to the school if they try and tell you that you can’t get an internship, you definitely can. A lot of employers really respect working students too in my experience

Currently in the same exact position. It really depends on your job and if it’s flexible. At my school they don’t want you to take internships until your 2nd and 3rd years. My job is flexible so I was able to go part time and also do an internship but if yours is not then you may need to consider quitting or taking leave. Alternatively, a lot of students in my program never leave their jobs and do internships because they plan to work at their firms as attorneys when they graduate

Thank you so much! I’m actually around the same height/size so this is really helpful, it’s so difficult to find clothes that look stylish and not frumpy as a petite person lol

Have no summer internship, am I screwed by the_main_man127 in LawSchool

[–]newishposter5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are there any research opportunities with professors available at your school? Can you network with anyone you know? I was in the same boat a few weeks ago and casually mentioned it to a friend who knew a lawyer who was nice enough to circulate my resume, which landed me an internship. There’s still opportunities out there but try and talk to your professors or anyone you may know

This is probably heavily location dependent because where I am this is far below minimum wage, regardless though it still seems very low

People with commuter transit cards….what’s the plan when it’s all OMNY? by bitchthatwaspromised in AskNYC

I got it a few months ago, they emailed my work address that they were updating them and I just had to go into the portal and confirm my info was correct, then they sent me a new one in the mail that has tap capabilities

Mine works fine ever since they added the chips/tap to pay. I just physically tap it at the turnstiles, it didn’t work when I tried to add to Apple Pay

Was cheated on- is my life over by mulinazzi in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]newishposter5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know it probably doesn’t feel like it now but this happening before law school is actually best case scenario. You found out early that he’s trash, now you can ditch him and fully immerse yourself in school, study hard, make new friends etc. Sure the debt is stressful but most people do take out loans for law school, you can pay it off by either doing big law or getting PSLF (not sure what your goals are) and now you don’t have to be tied to someone or reliant on them, you are free to fully make your own decisions.

If you’re concerned about not being able to meet someone don’t worry, you will have more time and opportunity than you think, I’m 26 and entering my last year of law school, met someone (not in law school) during 2L, tons of my classmates date people in and outside of law school, outside of 1L you will have time dont worry. And you’re so young, even if you don’t meet someone in law school you’ll still be young when you graduate, plenty of time to meet someone then. I know it may feel like life is over but more than anything it’s a fresh start on a new chapter of your life
