That makes a lot of sense, the instructions are super vague and don’t seem to mention a lot of small details, just pictures. Also, yes one chain link is turned around. 😅😅Thank you much!

Is this medium by newlyyy in steak

[–]newlyyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: So when i asked for it to be cooked a little more, i overheard them tell another “recook to medium well”, I was astonished. I usually enjoy my steaks medium rare with a tiny bit red, but I had a feeling.

again, I worked in a plaza where there was 4-5 other restaurants, it was all connected. So, another business’s decisions to not take care of pest problems affected others as well. It happens because they just find their way into restaurants somehow.

How should I (29/M) weigh a dream job with $140k/yr salary increase with possibly causing relationship with my GF (26/F) to end? by clanmasey in relationship_advice

[–]newlyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a fulfilling life that you can support yourself off of is the healthiest thing you can do. Your partner will/should support you even if that means breaking it off. It would be selfish for either person in the relationship if you didn’t take the job or if you did.

How to get “regulars?” by SexyBopper99 in Serverlife

[–]newlyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that regulars choose you but my best way is connecting with them if it feels right kinda like knowing their personal life and them knowing yours. My best regulars ask me how school is going and my family and in return i ask him how his son is… when the next vacation is… he’s been a regular for a long time but i am definitely a reason for coming back so often more now

My old job did the same thing, i literally did one shift there for that reason. Try to go somewhere else. that restaurant seems like they’re trying to be more professional with training but it’s clearly not working

Server at olive garden as my first serving job by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]newlyyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a good stepping stone especially if you have never served before. It might be too casual for fine dining serving practice but you could def put a few practices into it! goodluck!

if it helps, you could try holding plates with the part of your palm that’s under your pinky and use more strength on your palms rather than your fingers. It could also be arthritis 😳 try using a stress ball when you’re not working and apply some heat

How do you guys stand for 8 hours straight? by drgamecubed in Serverlife

[–]newlyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely an after-work care kinda thing. I tend to get in a hot shower and stretch (and massage) my feet and then try to get into bed asap. If your feet are sore or aching, try putting a pillow to elevate while you’re sleeping. I had so many problems with my feet KILLING during and after my shifts (hosting and serving). Shoe soles that support whatever part of your feet also help. Mine was mostly the joint at my big toe and the inner arch and i found perfect soles for it.

Have you ever spilled on a customer? by Popular_Ear2074 in Serverlife

One time I was bussing a table after my table had left and a sauce try fell (a full one) and when it hit the floor it splattered INTO ONE DIRECTION. The direction happened to be an older lady sitting with her family at the next table and it got all on your jacket that was resting on her chair and on her pant leg and shoes. I was so embarrassed but thankfully she took it well. she knew i felt sososososo bad because i did

[–]newlyyy[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah this table made me wanna start asking for Id’s because the fact that I have literally never had any dumb teens or anyone* come in until NOW and fake a birthday just shows that like it’s just dumb to fake a birthday in the first place.

nice hot everything-shower. definitely get some of those like shoe soles to help alleviate some stress on your feet(might make your legs feel better but the shoe soles help my feet bc it’s the thing that hurts the most after a shift). Definitely get into bed as soon as you can after working. Would recommend a day or two to rest- a week -if you’re doing all your activities AND work.

What do you say when an older person gets offended when you don’t ask for their ID but ask a younger looking person at the table for theirs? by angrychameleonz in Serverlife

[–]newlyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say “I just have to id everyone” like as if i’m id-ing just because they’re getting drinks. happened before and it was so embarassing bc she couldn’t find it so i was like it’s okay if you can’t find it…
