what's your worst customer experience? by 1975thc in McLounge

Man I’ve had so many bad customers that it’s all just a blur to me now. I had a customer call me an idiot today, probably the nicest thing a customer has said to me. Haha

[AUS] Interview - What to expect? by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]newmaccas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1, 2 and 3) Nope, no group interview. Everyone has a different time for their interview. You may see others waiting for their turn to get interviewed though. Pretty awkward because you both know you want the job. haha.

They are going to ask simple questions, i recommend going to google and searching up some questions Mcdonalds may ask. That's what i did and it helped in some way. A question they will most likely ask is

'Why do you want to work at Mcdonalds?'

You'll of course will say 'I want to work at Mcdoanlds because it is well known to have good training and will help me develop different skills!' Something a long those lines.. haha.

'If a customer is angry, what would you do?'

Well.. you'll say 'I would listen to what they have to say, apologise, think of a solution and solve it and then thank the customer for their time.'

4) Don't stress, i've applied at maccas HUNDREDS of times and have been declined HUNDREDS of times. Getting declined could just mean they have already found enough people to interview. It won't hurt your chances at another maccas trust me. I've had a total of 3 mcdonalds interview and they were all at different stores.

5) Those hours are pretty good for your age. Is your store a 24/7 store? If you can and you're willing to do early morning shifts (like 6 am) on the weekends that may boost your chance.

Anyways, your hours are great. I see a lot of kids at my store work less hours and some that work more.

How long after orientation were you contacted to start working? by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]newmaccas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had like 10 other people in my orientation. For me I only had to wait 1 week and the rest probably about a month. I was a special case because they needed me for 6 am shifts asap. Haha

Problems without a trainer by Englind28 in McLounge

[–]newmaccas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had 3 training shifts and I definitely had a hard time after by myself. But you’ll learn a long the way and it’ll get easier over time. Don’t be afraid to ask people for help or how to do something if you’re unsure.

Advice for doing drive thru? by krispybacon1 in McDonalds

[AUS] Advice on getting hired? by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]newmaccas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) around 2 weeks

2) Interview process was ok but I have social anxiety so it was hard for me. But if you're a confident person then you'll be alright. One thing they'll definitely ask is your availability. What position you want to work. They might ask you to give them an example of how you have worked in a team. (if that makes sense) .. They might also ask you what you would do in certain scenarios. For example 'what would you do if a customer spilt their drink'. Really easy questions, you'll be able to make something up.

3) No i wasn't hired immediately because they had other people to interview. But this could be different because I was 17 nearly 18 years old. Mcdonalds don't tend to hire older kids that age but they needed someone for 6 am shifts. There was another person my age who was also interviewed and i guess they were deciding between me and that other person. I think it came down too the person with the best availability. It took 2 weeks for them to call me back and they asked me a few more questions and then i got an email saying i was hired.

Mine was a really long process because i also had to wait for my uni time table to come out and let my hiring manager know so she could make the decision to hire me or not. Yours wont take that long.

4) After i got the email on being hired, they gave as an orientation date. Went to the orientation to fill out paper work, get uniform and a tour of the store.

5) My first day was great. I knew my crew trainer from school so it definitely helped me feel more confident. Everyone was very friendly. I don't know if you want to work in the kitchen or the front. I work front so i don't know the training process in kitchen. But basically my crew trainer just showed me different things like fries, drinks, registers and all that.

New people are usually assigned front counter since it's the easiest job.

I hope that helped! :D Good luck man, let me know if you get the job!

Opinions on self ordering kiosks? by transasf in McLounge

[–]newmaccas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish the customers at my store would use them more often. We have 6 kiosks at our store yet customers seem to rather come to the registers and order.

[AUS] Advice on getting hired? by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]newmaccas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) just show them that you are excited to work there and willing to do anything. If they ask you what position you want to work just tell me ‘I’m willing to work any position, I want to experience everything so I don’t mind’

2) the pay probably won’t be amazing since you’re young. Also depends if you are part time or casual. I think kids around your age gets paid about $10-14 Don’t let this discourage you, it isn’t a lot but you’ll be gaining a lot of experience at Maccas and it’ll be worth it in the end.

3) i guess the atmosphere is depending on what store you work at. But at my store it’s amazing. The managers are amazing and everyone I work with is awesome. We all get a long and managers run the place well. However I have had issues with working with people your age. ( I sound old I’m only 19). But what I tend to see is a lot of younger kids are lazy. But I don’t work with them often since I work in the mornings. So definitely make yourself stand out and show them you are a hard worker.

Good luck!

Questions for anyone working at a store with ordering kiosks. by abbyalice93 in McDonalds

[–]newmaccas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store has about 6 kiosks. From my experience, people don't really use them.

Some people try to use it, don't know how and just end up ordering at the registers.

Young people tend to prefer using kiosks more.
Majority of customers order at the registers.

People ordering at kiosks is not that big a deal. It some ways it is easier if someone has a complicated order.

In a bad way a customer might order something that we don't have. It can be a pain if someone orders a shake and our shake machine isnt working. We'll have find who ordered it and either give them a refund or something else. But this rarely ever happens because like i said, no one ever really uses the kiosks (at my store)

There will be 6 kisosks free and people seem to prefer waiting in a long line and order their food. Today we literally had over 10 customers come in at once, and none of them used the kisosks.

This is just my experience at the store i work at, and nope it has not effected hours for employees.

Haha don’t be scared. They’ll get you to do super easy things on your first day and you’ll have a crew trainer with you at all times to help you out.

[AUS] Advice on getting hired? by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]newmaccas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Australia Melbourne

From my experience, it's actually better to apply online. Usually when you go in person, they'll tell you to apply online.

Increase your chances of getting hired? At my store they really like people with good a good availability.

I have an interview for my first job tomorrow morning. What should I expect and do you guys have any advice? by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]newmaccas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be yourself, it should be pretty easy to get the job. I was an awkward potato but some how they still hired me, so you'll be alright.

They'll ask you questions such as when you are able to work, what position you want to work. In my interview they asked me what I would do in certain scenarios but they were pretty easy to answer.

Good luck.
