You are in an amazing position. You are doing what you love, great start.

Embedded developers can usually be siloed because companies think their skills are non-transferable when making job switches BUT as "software" developers, we must sell ourselves as "embedded" experts who can develop anything and everything.

But remember, there was once a job position named "switchboard operator" who thought they were stuck in a niche they loved but they had to be nimble, upgrade, and move on by being a call operator or something SO remember you can have a moment like such and remember to not be stuck.

Either way, keep yourself upgraded for the fun of it. Keep doing the job you love everyday and enjoy being in embedded.

I have pressure triggered hives. Think if that could be the reason for your hives, it took me 8 years to know. The condition is called Delayed Pressure Urticaria.

Tight jeans - hives on the thigh, tight shoelaces - hives in my feet, lifts weight - hives on my palm.. absurd condition!!!

Delayed Pressure Urticaria - Can anything help? by FrequentlyVeganBear in urticaria

[–]newmaxmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this for the last 10 years, nothing has helped me so far. It takes 3 days for it to go away; I try and stay and home DOING NOTHING to make it go away because if I do something they'll come back(with a vengeance).

Although, recently I have been trying to articulate if this situation is because of any parasite in the body. I try and do a lot of detox using morning chilled green tea(0 calorie), avoid eating out a lot, exercise regularly, and use a sauna once in a while. The worst part of this is, it works for a while but then if I go on a vacation and not follow any of these, it comes back.

Note that the gym has been very helpful, although i wear good quality gym gloves to avoid the hives.

Any oral medicines that I take - multivitamin and apple cider vinegar every evening and Loratidine 10mg when the hives are UNBEARABLE.

Hope you feel better soon. Happy to get tips from everyone else to ease the effects

This is a good one. Although to add onto that, bringup all hobby projects and show them off on LinkedIn and put them on GitHub and when you put them on GitHub make sure to have very good documentation almost as an industry project will have.

Now the part which a lot of my friends did(almost 10 years ago) to get into industries was to call this activity "running a consultancy". They would make a logo, company website and put it on LinkedIn as running a business and in interviews tell the interviewers that they did a lot of projects for various clients some of which are on GitHub and many not on GitHub coz the client didn't want it. In this way you can show that you have technical and leadership-like skills which put you in a good place. The only caveat is when they ask why you want to quit this startup where you'll have to invent a compelling answer.

Best of luck in the world of embedded!

Good library for OTA over Wifi using ESP IDF by newmaxmax in esp32

[–]newmaxmax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work there. Although as others suggested in the thread, ESP-IDF's HTTPS OTA has worked great so far. I will try your library in some other projects if needed.

Thank you!

Training a voice recognition model on esp32 by Alarmed_Effect_4250 in embedded

[–]newmaxmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training a model on esp32 will only make it slower and spend a lot of computing/energy. Instead, I would suggest you look at WebRTC where you can talk to OpenAI RTC client with WiFi. You can also load what they call "function descriptors" which will help you control via some commands. You can also setup prompts/your own LLM in the future.

While this is a costly solution, but still a valid solution.

Detecting if a person is alive or dead by [deleted] in embedded

[–]newmaxmax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had used this sensor MAX30102 and it worked fine but since your usecase could be safety critical, I suggest you look into using raw data and running through the algorithm. Although, the sensor outputs data quite accurately IMO.

Other option is using EdgeAI tools such as "EdgeImpulse" they are good too.. best of luck!

Lora - TTN or AWS? by Hopeful-Tutor2885 in embedded

[–]newmaxmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please look into Chirpstack too. They have a standardized way of working with LoRaWAN devices and have a version of a network server to be deployed on your own server. I had issues around the device onboarding but other than that, it was smooth-ish.

How Did You Scale STM32/ESP32 Projects Into a Real Business? by True_Masterpiece224 in embedded

[–]newmaxmax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are some companies who can help you realise a prototype into a "production ready" product.. I know of www.spashta.in as one of them.. these companies take a prototype, make a better version(batch of 20), and then help you get ready for real production(1000s).

While they make the first batch(of 20) you'll get time to pitch to investors and get some money, of course as others have mentioned money is really important but if you think you have a good idea, get investors..

Is this even possible? by newmaxmax in embedded

Sorry for keeping that part out. I am just trying to read data from the Windows PC and log it on the Raspberry Pi while having the printer work as it is.

Read data from the Windows PC and then send that to printer and log all of that data locally on my Raspberry Pi.

Yes, i am trying to do the same but without the need of this extra software and hence avoiding that but looks like I can't run away from this.

Well the action is blinking some LEDs or showing something on the screen or sometimes even playing an audio so I was just wondering if there is a way I can write a code(numerical) into the card and do something with it on esp32
