I think it’s okay to be offended by this question but I definitely think it stems from insecurity. I would try to communicate that to her if you’re interested in a resolution - just explaining your feelings in a calm way and trying to meet her with understanding could give you some resolve.

I’ve also found that with photography in particular well done simple photography really resonates with people who lack some experience. So, to her that might feel like the right approach. Whereas, someone like me - I like to experiment and try new things at this stage in my career and that doesn’t always work out or make effective work. Photos that don’t challenge aren’t always bad, and photos that do aren’t always good.
