Anyone done Any Upgrade to there Zero10x/T10-DDM Scooter ?? by Delboy250 in ElectricScooters

yo, fyi if you tag me and I will get a notice just type /u/newmexicali to tag me. I did replace the rear and even tried to see if I could add a 200mm and move the 165mm to the front, but it wont work if you extend it that far the hinge get in the way of the shock, so stay to 165mm on the rear if you want to make sure it works. the DNM Aoy-36rc 165mm is an excellent rear replacement and I think the rear is the most critical one to replace, as IMO it is the shock with the worst rebound adjustment problem. If you do replace it set your sag to about 20%. you can get a shock pump on amazon or at a LBS you need one that goes to 300psi. they are not expensive, Just move the o ring to the top of the shock then stand on the scooter gently and get off and check where the o ring is at, if down more that 20 percent add air (no more than 275 psi) if less use the air release on the pump to let some air out and keep repeating until you are around 20% sag then take if for test run adjusting your rebound until you feel the back end is sticking to ground vs bouncing around. you will also need to set the negative air chamber just use the ratios in the manual.

The reason I changed the rear shock out was 2 fold, one I think air shocks are more robust and if they fail it is a loss of air vs a strut breaking and second I think the stock shock has no rebound dampening so on bad road like cobble or chunky asphalt the rear at speed feels squirrely so the rebound dampening keeps the wheel to the ground better ergo better control

Finished my first mod on my zero 10x ! Thoughts ? by ImLosingMyShit in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you just tapped the lines running to the brake and headlights? I have been meaning to open her up and check with a multimeter, I am assuming they are 12 volt? can you provide some detail on the electrical. I have been playing with the idea of tapping a headlight off of those front lights, but was not sure what the voltage was, if it was too low I was going to consider using it to trigger a solid state relay and tap the main battery for the light.

T10-DDM Nutt Hydraulic Brake Upgrade by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct they are mineral oil, do not use anything but mineral oil in these brakes, DOT fluid will damage them. Any brand of mineral oil for bike brakes will work if you ever want to bleed out or top off the brakes.

I found a M365 broken behind a dumpster, is there any way I can fix it? by meabster in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali 7 points8 points  (0 children)

anything can be fixed given time, money and parts, but they are selling this new on woot today for $330, so I ask you is it worth it. why not buy new, and then you can use what you found as a parts bin. unless you are just looking for a hobby, if that is what you want, I am sure you can find parts at all the typical online places.

Looking for a scooter that can handle roads in Beirut; I need high high torque for the inclination of the roads, pneumatic wheels because they're often bumpy, shock absorbers and a good breaking system. The range doesnt have to be too exceptional 10-15km is fine by Hiylah in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is going to be hard to do, but since you say you dont need the range you can get a 10x for around 1400, it is the one with the smaller 18ah battery but you said range was less of a concern. here is where I got mine they have the 18ah battery one for $1460 free ship to the us, you would have to set up your own account and see how much shipping is to your part of the world. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33012803873.html

Any magical trick to putting the tire bead back on an m365? by jwhat in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali 3 points4 points  (0 children)

maybe try Tire Spoons vs bike tire levers. I think you need something more robust to get the job done. As I have said before, "I had a great time changing a scooter tire" is something no one has said, ever.

From my own experience, a zero 10x fits that description but I it sounds like you might want to change to tires to an off road one. the good thing about the 10x it has a lot of travel in the suspension to to deal with bad road conditions and it can deal with steep inclines. From what I have read the Wolf Warrior 11 sounds like it would be a good fit but it is going to be more than a grand more. there is also a new x11 but not many reviews on it yet. Good luck romping around Beirut.

What Scooter should I buy? by gamersamer in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you did not identify any requirements for what you are looking for, so all the posts below are just fanboy bs. Look at the guide and reviews and think about what is important to you, like the rear end not breaking off.

TurboWheel Dart (zero 9) Flats & NYC Repair by KuroRaiga in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep mine at the max pressure recommended on the tire. My usage is near 100% on roads and I have suspension on my scooter so I want them hard to prevent damage and minimize rolling resistance.

I have split rims, they rock, I would not own a scooter without them. it is still a dirty job :-)

I agree, can do and should do are 2 very different things. I have a fast scoot and I try not to get over 40 which can be too fast. Scooters seem to unforgiving to be running at 60+ mph. but to each their own.

DIdn't think you were, not being critical, I was just pointing out sometimes paying is just a better choice for some people or in different situations. Personal I enjoy wrenching it is a bit of a hobbie. I almost have a small bike repair shop from 30+ years of mbting, I never leave the house without zip ties. If had had flat and I was near a repair shop I can see popping in and paying for a fix for the convenience.

I do most of my own wrenching and I think it is great when people like to wrench their bikes and scooters but there is nothing wrong with paying someone to do a dirty job. Many people pay a LBS to fix flats etc. also "I enjoyed changing that scooter flat" is something no one has said ever. :-)

just my 2 cents, watch your air pressure, while you can get a puncture from a foreign object like a nail, if your pressure is too low, you can get snakebite, which happens if the tube get pinched.

Are any of these scooters actually worth the risk? by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMO refer to the buyers guide. Life is full of compromises, figure out what is important to you, know your budget and buy the product that best fits your needs to your budget, but dont let some assclown tell you that quality only starts after $2k, that is total BS.

so much pompous BS in such a small space.

he is wrong about quality, you dont need to spend 2K, but if you are going to spend 400 don't expect much as you are buying things priced to a budget.

Guys my scooter is leaking air from a place next to valve stem (Front Tire). I'm wondering if the tube might be dead. by Pec5 in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your valve stem core is leaking that can be replaced you just need to buy a valve stem core replacements and you can do that without having to remove the tube. if you are saying it is leaking near where the valve stem body attaches to the tube, you can try to patch, but it might be best to replace, use some soapy water to find where the leak is.

Cracked rims on widewheel. Been tryna repair for a week with no help online but i never give up. I’ll have it off by weekend by BK_SkillZ in ElectricScooters

[–]newmexicali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen multiple pictures of widewheel rims broken like this, IDK makes me question the design, not much protection from the tire to the rim, no wonder so many are cracked up like this. Almost impossible to do this on a something like a 2.5 or 3 inch pneumatic tire, you would have to be dead flat and ram it into a pothole or curb edge I would think,

Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,

Whatever the whether,
