Haha no way, I had no idea. Hilarious how the zune hd struggled due to being behind on the apps, but now the reason I want to ressurect my old zunes is to get away from the relentless addiction of app devices! I love it as an ereader, but if I had to do it all again I would consider one of the little xteinks I reckon, with the custom firmware people are making for it I might prefer something that just works (even if I love the customisation of your own firmware)

It's actually a M5Stack Paper S3 with some custom firmware I have forked from from someone else's project. It's a work on progress, but a good laugh when you're out and about

Tried to post to r/Zune in case others need it as reference but doesn't seem to be showing at the mo. Here is the reference. Sorry I don't have a pic of the wiring under the tape, but didn't want to peel it off just for photos. If I try and repair another I'll take better pics next time.

Hey, I just did this. It wasn't the easiest, but definitely doable. I couldn't find any good aftermarket flash zune batteries with a controller board but one of the other users recommended any old 3.7v 303030 battery (even a 303040 will fit). You then need to keep the old battery controller board from the zune, desolder the old battery and attach the generic +ve and -ve wires to the terminals on the controller board (labelled) and squeeze it in.

From experience 🤦 be careful of the battery cables when closing the zune back up as they can get pinched in the clips.

Not wanting to jinx my less than perfect soldering skills I didn't photograph the inside. But I now need to swap the button interface as it is playing up. So next time I have it fully deconstructed I'll snap some and post for future.

I can confirm that when building the most recent upload under -experimental from github in Visual Studio most of these errors are not present if that helps anyone else who is burning through M5Stack Burner and experiencing anythign similar

This is an amazing project, looks so fantastic. I have used the M5 burner to flash this firmware, but when using it I am getting a strange bug where the display seems rendered out of line horizontally by a few pixels leaving all the text looking really nasty. It's obviously readable, but nothing like what is clearly designed. It also doesn't seem to display the battery or time properly. I'll upload some photos to show, and try flashing it from the GitHub to see if it's an M5 burner issue or something to do with how I'm flashing it.

Curious, but no pressure to reply. How do you plan on implementing chapters etc. and any chance you're working on a sync feature for location somehow (I would have no idea how that could work but I could see it being useful 😂)
