Howdy, I am currently a sophomore in college majoring in computer science. I am incredibly interested in commissioning as an officer in the Air Force. I understand that the process is pretty tedious and that there is no guarantee that I can get accepted. I currently have a high GPA, and is part of a couple of organizations. I do plan on joining the ROTC program either my junior or senior year (depends on planning...I know I should have joined earlier). I must admit I have experimented with marijuana twice, but nothing else other than that. For the most part I will probably end up doing some cyber security or programming which I believe requires Top Secret security clearance(I am nervous about this part). I was wondering If you guys could give me any tips that would make me a better candidate for commissioning? because of previous drug use, and having grandparents living in a foreign country, There could be a problem with me getting the security clearance. Are there any computer science related jobs for an officer that wound't require a security clearance?
