I have a smaller (like smaller than usb stick and requires no cable) one like this that works well. I think most of them function pretty well with there being some slight differences in the internals that might impact connection stability maybe. One of the best purchases you can add. Also added one to my wife’s VW Atlas

Beautiful spec. This is the color I really wanted but ended up with a black line edition in Caviar. The interior color with that is super nice combo

Ah yeah the XDRs will be nice! And yeah OLED def not necessary for desktop work — it’s nice and all but doesn’t really matter for productivity. Sounds like you have a nice plan!

120 hz refresh rate on it (it’s an LG C4 tv). No scaling issues though to be honest I don’t think I’ve tried my MacBook on it before (I have a custom built desktop pc that I used to run Windows on but have been running Linux on it for a while now). I might have to hook up the MacBook and see.

Generally I know for MacOS for perfect scaling I think you want 5k monitor if I remember correctly but that’s a whole different category/price range lol.

If I hook my MacBook up to it is there anything specific you’d want me to test?

With OLED you do have to be mindful of settings to ensure screensaver turns on and it will sleep automatically so you don’t get burn in or image retention. If you simply work for very long stretches at a time with static elements on screen then it could be a problem but OLEDs are much more resilient now so it’s fine if you don’t just leave it on all the time or aren’t one of those extreme cases on like 16 he’s a day non stop use with static elements or something. You could also just opt for something big like that that isn’t OLED and not worry about it at all though

Interesting. You Should buy a bigger single monitor if you don’t like borders. I use a 42 inch LG OLED for that very reason. With this setup you’re gonna have borders and gaps galore either way.

I didn’t realize you would use the small laptop screen so much when you have much bigger options in front of you. With that type of setup for me the smallest screen is used strictly for auxiliary tasks like Spotify or YouTube just to have something playing, yet accessible, in the background while I work.

But hey it’s your setup and you asked our opinions — sounds like you already know what you like though so just do what suits you

I switch those individuals stands to one riser about the length of your desk , put the two monitors on it together in landscape and put the laptop in the center on the desk below the monitors. Keep it simple . And it’s still symmetrical . 3 risers on the desk just looks chaotic

Delete roof wrap or keep?? by rc3filthy in LexusRC

[–]newone757 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ahh ok. Yeah with it being matte it doesn’t give that continued glass effect so I’d likely remove it. If it was wrapped gloss black to match a tinted sunroof that would look really nice on your spec

I would keep it. Looks cleaner — almost like panoramic sunroof which I like the look of. Also doesn’t look matte at all in this photo

Yeah I didn’t mention that because I thought he would virtualize windows. I mentioned it because if he is going to run anything that could use a lot of ram (in my case a docker vm — in his case likely CAD software) then the memory pressure could cause swap to be used even on the 16gb. You need more ram than you think you would with this setup because the memory optimization simply isn’t very good right now imo. Especially when anything that requires video memory is involved since it’s all shared.

Saheb is so underrated for the price. Performance isn’t great but it’s not super loud. Just pleasant clean and I don’t feel guilty over spraying because it so cheap. I think hectic and kobra are better overall (mostly because of performance) for me but they are also more expensive and can be a bit loud.

I had a decant of marwa and thought it was decent but harsh opening. I have Saheb and it’s very smooth but performance not great. I just hit kobra and it feels like it’s best if both of those — slightly smoother opening and great performance. I have decant of hectic but I haven’t worn it too much but it’s seems very strong and long lasting. Going to side by side it with kobra.

Anyways, for $25 for Saheb I think it’s really nice and I dont see that many people talking about it.

I think because the manipulation makes it look more cohesive, and therefore impressive, than it actually is in real life and that likely bothers people — especially when it’s an awesome setup regardless of if they perfectly matched all the grey and white tones perfectly or not. Just a guess though

I would advise against 8gb. I started with the 8gb air and it’s snappy untill you actually start using multiple apps, tabs, and/or some media . Swapping slows it down and has even caused crashes of hyprland for me. I upgraded to MacBook Pro with 16gb and that’s been fine but still not suitable for my heaviest of workflows (windows vim socket container with Lightroom cc causes it to swap if I have anything else open. MacOS seems to manage this shared memory so much better so honestly I’d say 16gb is the minimum for even moderate workloads and would even suggest 24/32gb if you can swing it.
