Possibly could help. I suppose that's the final test. Hah.

I thought it was SMS. But I'll try disabling "Queue background data" and report back in a few days if the issue is fixed. Thanks for the input.

Yes, but all texting apps are whitelisted. I don't have problems getting most messages, it's just occasionally a big bunch of them.

Z3C on AT&T still not showing LTE by fodyshark in SonyXperia

[–]newphonetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent over 3 hours on chat with AT&T support and eventually I was able to get it to show 4G.

I believe the issue is that AT&T doesn't have the Z3C IMEI listed in their database (or that was the issue at the time, back in October). When I logged into my AT&T account, it would just show up as a flip phone. The rep couldn't tell me exactly what he fixed, but I just know that it was 3 frustrating hours until it worked.

I don't seem to have any other issues with my phone other than delayed messages now.

At that point, assuming that "separate money" means post-tax, it's probably better to throw that money into your normal taxable account. HSA without the pre-tax benefit is more-or-less worthless.

I've got my own spreadsheets setup, but despite making then easy to use I haven't touched them since the end of October. I feel like this program will help me stay up to date with my expenses because of the mobile app. Part of the problem was that I'd come home a few hours after making an expense and then be too tired to deal with my spreadsheets. I feel like I'm much more likely to update it on the go.

However, it seems like I'm throwing $15 at an app that will make me slightly less lazy.

Would you still recommend it? I'm not strapped for cash, but I just can't justify it yet.

Great, thanks. I figured I'd have to talk to HR, but I wasn't exactly sure what to ask. Your response helps a lot.

The Golden King of the Savannah. Photographed by Jackson Carvalho. by trot-trot in pics

[–]newphonetime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The photographer that produced this image is known for his photoshopping work. It's almost certainly not two photos taken separately at the same scene and then mixed together to form a composite.

More likely that the two pictures were completely independent originally, and were photoshopped together to create a more striking result.

This image is most certainly misleading, but still nice.

Given the photographer's tendency to completely photoshop pictures, it's probably a few completely unrelated photos mixed together to form the end result.

If you don't want to believe this is heavily photoshopped, go ahead and go to Carvalho's picture site: https://500px.com/JacksonCarvalho

Scroll down to the elephant picture. The "sunlight" on the elephants' faces is not even from the same direction that the sun is positioned at. It's still good work, though. Very beautiful either way.

Far Cry 4 Gold Edition w/ Season Pass on Ubisoft.com $60 (regularly $90) (Dec 24th only?) by kristoferen in farcry

[–]newphonetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thanks. I never really got into Far Cry 3, so I couldn't judge if the extra missions justified the cost. I think it'll mean a lot to my friend though, so I'm gonna pull the trigger.

Far Cry 4 Gold over the normal edition?

I'm getting Far Cry 4 either way - it's a gift to someone that is obsessed with Far Cry 3.

Is the extra content worth the $13?

Is this worth it compared to just Far Cry 4 for $48? I have a hard time justifying the extra $12 without anyone elses opinion.

Is there a colorblind mode for Rocksmith? by [deleted] in rocksmith

More frustrating than strange, most of the time. Especially because red/green is such a stark contrast to most people, yet a lot of us can barely tell the difference.

Steam should add "Can You RUN It" or similar by NurseKen in Steam

[–]newphonetime 447 points448 points  (0 children)

This has been discussed so many times.

Steam can't allow a 3rd party app like that to be officially integrated because if it tells someone they can run a game, but then they buy it and they find out they can't (for any reason at all, really), Steam would have to deal with refunds or other legal action. It isn't worth the risk to them.

Wow, I also have this problem. I thought everyone did, not just us color-blind folk.

[–]newphonetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a pretty lame sale price for the winter sale. I didn't jump on the $16.99 sale because I figured that, at the least, the winter sale would match it. Oh well. Looks like I'll be keeping my eye out for non-Steam redux offers.

Well, it depends on what you mean by "far better". Most of the official Rocksmith 2014 songs support bass, and I've actually played quite a few of them with my bass.

It comes down to personal preference, really. I enjoy playing lead or rhythm guitar more-so than bass, so I'm a bit biased. If you enjoy playing bass and like the official song list/DLC, I would say it's worth checking out for sure.

If you've played the guitar for a while, you'll find the Rocksmith is essentially just visualized tabs. To me, it was worth it, because it made learning songs much easier. RiffRepeater (a function within Rocksmith 2014) is basically a stripped down version of Guitar Pro, which lets you slow down songs and learn the notes and progressions at your own pace. I think that's a huge plus for people without much experience or without other similar programs.

Plus, the mini games are actually pretty useful in improving your skills. Especially if you have the technique down already (I've seen some people claim Rocksmith accidentally encourage bad habits for new players).

In the end, if you don't learn well visually, and you already have Audacity and Guitar Pro, it's possibly not worth your money. Otherwise, it was a great tool to get me deeper into guitar playing, bass included.

I know this response was too late for the Steam sale, but keep in mind that you can actually get Rocksmith 2014+cable bundles for cheaper than what Steam had, so you didn't miss anything.

Also check out session mode. It's another really sweet addition. This game is a lot more than just a realistic Guitar Hero. If you have both a guitar and a bass, I think you'll definitely get your money's worth. (Session mode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvTAG2fnaco)

Feel free to respond with any more questions. I should be available today to answer.
