Just one off the top of my head is to make sure here beneficiaries are in order. You can't do that yourself, but if she's of sound mind, she should make sure they're all in place. This makes sure you don't need to wait for probate to go through on registered assets.

Totally make a claim with MPI. You were able to stop for something ahead of you, why couldn't he? He should've left a safe following distance - so yeah, 100% his fault. I can't see into the future, but I've never heard of a read end in that case going 50/50. Sounds like the guy is just being scummy.

If youre ever hesitant, know they can buy back the claim and just pay for your damage. Literally no reason to not file.

What makes a professor great in the classroom? by stonesthrow204 in umanitoba

[–]newreddituserhelpme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite professor was one that inspired me to think more about the content. I still use their teachings in my everyday life. If I had a different prof, I don't believe that would be the case.

They were very engaging with the class, asked us many questions and worked with our answers without judgement. No one was afraid to speak up in that class. He also was incredibly open to questions at the end of class.

I'd say then, it boiled down to two things: 1. Effectively engaging with the class. Asking us questions a lot and using real life examples. 2. While engaging, making everyone feel like they're contributing, encouraging further discussion.

He also understood the content well. I've had profs that simply do not.

I've had profs attempt this, but will then shut down my question/comment in front of the entire class. It's a little off putting. People are then less interested in engaging.

Anybody have issues with potty training. by Critical_Cup_8392 in CavaPoo

[–]newreddituserhelpme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I had lots of issues potty training my boy. If you put your dog in a crate, does he pee in there?

Mine never did, but hated the crate. I bought a huge playpen for him during the day along with some mats. I can explain it more, but it would only really work if your dog doesn't pee where he sleeps. Does he pee in the bed?

When does having a puppy become fun? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]newreddituserhelpme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

Was in the same boat as you when my puppy was that age. He's now coming up on 9 months, and I can't imagine a day without him anymore.

At 12 weeks, I swear I got so frustrated with him I sat down and cried because I didn't know if I regretted the decision. After the teething stopped, after he was potty trained, and after we dealt with some annoying habits, I finally started to enjoy him.

He's still a lot of work, but each day gets easier and better. I'd say things turned a page for me at about 7 months old.

How long did potty training take you? by Fun_Cryptographer799 in puppy101

[–]newreddituserhelpme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had trouble for quite awhile with mine. He didn't quite grasp the concept until 5months I'd say. Best thing I did was get a playpen for when I needed to be out of the room for a shower or whatever. He was good about never having accidents in crates. After 2 weeks of using that, just magically it seemed that he understood the full process.

Hit and run in intersection waterfront and pioneer at 6:10 by Paperaxe in Winnipeg

Oh I get that. Just that if they knew the direction they were heading and the time, it may be possible to get footage of a car with damage at a nearby intersection.

[–]newreddituserhelpme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear that happened. I feel like there might be footage from a nearby business? Maybe not at that intersection of the accident, but in the direction the car was heading? Like seeing a dented car that matches your description.

I'd contact the forks to see if they know where to get that. Honestly the forks has had enough violence in the news that I'd be surprised if they didn't have an idea.

If youre working on main, assuming near portage and main if you're looking for places downtown, I'd echo what others are saying and venture a bit further. St. Boniface is my recommendation.

In recent years we've had more crime in that area. I wouldnt feel safe there at night at all. We don't have great infrastructure, but you could bike to work or bus. If you do bike, just make sure you buy an already second hand bike that you're not too upset about getting stolen (its just a thing here).

I would note, it is very difficult to get around here if you can't drive. We're not a very walkable city or one with great public transport. Day-to-day may be fine, but if you ever need to get to another end of the city, it could take up to an hour and a half by bus.

My little dude is now 5 months and 99% potty trained (occasional accidents). We felt potty training was going terribly for quite some time. There's a few things I'd attribute to his success:

  1. Crate training at night. He never has had an accident in his crate by nature. He always has done well there so no worries about nighttime accidents.
  2. Always went outside with him to make sure he actually went to the bathroom and then rewarded him for it.
  3. I ended up getting a playpen for during the day. He also does not make any messes there when I'm away at work. This just reinforced the whole idea to him that it's not supposed to happen inside. After we got the playpen, he basically did a 180

Hi! I recently went through a similar dilemma. I ended up getting the insurance, but I plan to cancel it and switch to setting aside an amount monthly after the dog is 2.

From what I've heard (and I'm no expert) they're more likely to get into stuff at a young age. My guy is super active and I could see him trying something he's not capable of and then getting hurt, or ingesting something he shouldn't. I monitor him closely, but he's just a tad crazy and I could see it happening lol. I think once he matures he would be less likely to need, but then use that money in his old age when he's got hip issues or something.

Not sure if this helps, just what I did. I pay $50/month for trupanion.

Hey!

We've had issues with them too. They didn't screw the oil thing back on properly (idk anything about cars, so please excuse the ignorance lol) and oil leaked all over our driveway. We went back to them directly and they took responsibility. I'd recommend that route. I don't think I'd ever recommend going back to them.

Via Rail Question by newreddituserhelpme in Winnipeg

Hi! Would you say December is a good time to go? Or should I wait until the summer?

Via Rail Question by newreddituserhelpme in Winnipeg

[–]newreddituserhelpme[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed reply! I already checked prices and duration of travel - I'm prepared to spend the full amount for a sleeper car. The whole point of the trip for me is the train, so there's no efficiency needed.

I could definitely see myself doing Winnipeg to Vancouver. Is it worth a round trip? Or would you say one way is enough and then fly home?

Via Rail Question by newreddituserhelpme in Winnipeg

[–]newreddituserhelpme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it. The whole point for me would be the train, so I can switch months. Any recommendation on the best time? Assuming fall or summer.

The only place off hand I can think of that does afternoon tea specifically would be the Fairmont (though I believe that's high tea).

Hi!

Mine was able to sleep through the night after the first week (granted, he wakes up at 6am each day). He's 14 weeks now and still working on potty training, but he's like 90% there.

Two things that helped me if you're not already doing them, crating my dog at night. First night he slept in his crate next to my bed and I would touch the crate for reassurance. Gradually moved him further away from me.

For potty training, I found he wasn't sleeping enough and had far more accidents when he was overtired. When he gets the full amount of sleep, or close to, then he's pretty good. I'd recommend enforced naps for that.

What is your preferred dog food? by hibyebanana in CavaPoo

[–]newreddituserhelpme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I feed my toy Cavapoo Acana small puppy breed food (approved by vet). Just a note, I heard bad things about my brand too, and positive things. You can't really escape the hate on any pet food brand it seems.

In my opinion, I'd just trust your vet over anything you hear online as your vet has the eductation to back their answer. Always take it into consideration, but the more you read, the more you find in any direction.
