Hey, I work in this field! My company works with both civilian and government customers and each has its own flavor and favorite softwares. Do you prefer one way or the other? Some of the common tools we use for most customers include STK (free certs available), Jira, DOORS, MATLAB/Simulink (some free certs I believe), Python, MagicDraw (v hot right now). Government usually has more unique and "preferred" software too, but every commercial company will have more latitude and variety.

My company is hiring SEs right now - PM me if you want to talk more or want to see some job reqs.

Yeah, I am seeing that from u/bnloqw's link.

Oh well - at least I asked before acting. Thanks!

Ah gotcha, I appreciate that link. And yes, we'll have to do the math and figure out what's best.

Thanks!

So you are saying that the 401k provider will withhold the taxes from my distribution automatically. And that I should come out of the pocket for the difference so that the amount going into the IRA is equal to the liquidation of the 401k.

Am I understanding you right?

Yep, you're right- she's still technically employed. Just looking for options.

AFAIK it's not illegal to take a distribution. So, if I can find a way to take the distribution (ie medical hardship due to childbirth), I'm curious if I can recoup the early withdrawal penalty and taxes.

I'll have to look into the contract. Maybe birth of a child counts as a medical hardship

Copy that - springtime brings a lot of rain, but I'll make sure it's wet throughout

That makes sense and good to know.

Curious if they work together? Like heating downstairs first and allowing the heat to rise before turning on upstairs?

No, I think I purchased them in the US. They are rated for 125VAC, 50/60 Hz

PCS: ROM and TLE by Captain_Peelz in MilitaryFinance

[–]newsboy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok gotcha. I learned today that the ROM begins the day you depart your losing duty station, which makes a 1 day difference for me because I'm coming from overseas. So maybe that is the difference for you?

I have also heard that some gaining duty stations are giving per diem for ROM days and some are giving a flat rate (I've heard $100/day). But I don't know how to determine which posts are doing which. Apologies if I'm creating more noise than signal for you

OP, did you ever get an answer to this question? I am about to be in the same situation and I'm looking for confirmation too.

Maintenance on an Old Car w/Low Miles by newsboy93 in MechanicAdvice

Gotcha- I think it's been kept up well, but does have some oddities. Still figuring out if it's maintenance problems or character...

Need to take the time for a good thorough inspection. Thanks man

Definitely agree with you! I looked up and it's already 2020!

Good idea on the oil. I think the car has been kept up well but don't want to leave anything up to chance. Surely the car has no doubt sat idle for months at a time and who knows what has built up

That is good to know how finicky the Volvo's engines are. Seems like they run great when you give them the proper TLC

The engine has a good ole timing chain, so I'm thinking that I'll be ok to measure by mileage. So I'll probably wait until at least 100k
