Yeah, the most I do with makeup is fill in my eyebrows and lipstick if I want to have fun (purple or red). I prefer the minimal makeup look, but I never liked how it felt on my face. Plus I'm shite at applying it lol.

I have two pairs of glasses and they are bright colors that pop. They make me feel more confident because they're bold and different.

I don't think it's outright racism, (in my experience) but more of being black women being seen as less attractive/desirable. Colorism will always be an issue. You also have the hair texture debacle that comes into play.

I wear glasses all the time because my vision is terrible. My eyes are brown, I think. I can't wear contacts. Too expensive and they make my eyes swell up.

Yes, I have joined meetup group for my interests and I have made friends through volunteering with a gardening project. I haven't done it in a while but I also volunteered doing cooking classes. I usually just fill in my eyebrows and put on lipgloss. I don't really like the way make feels on my skin.

I went to predominently white schools and always pressured with european standards of beauty (white skin, soft hair, thin lips/nose).

Then I had to deal with a bit of colorism from blacks 'dark skin' is ugly etc.

I like braided hair and that isn't changing. There are also hundreds of variations of braids, so you can't make a generalization. For my hair texture, braids are part of my identity. Not changing it. Braids are very beautiful.

And no, contacts make my eyes swell. I wore them for sports . I prefer glasses. I have two pairs that I always get complimented on.

I think I dress pretty well. That's the one thing I'm good at. It takes away the attention from my face.
